chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 My mother in-law I switch over to EMBY, the last of the bunch; from PLEX. Since day one she seems to be having all kinds of issues. Buffering, movies stopping and restarting multiple times, slow load times..Her Roku is the Roku Streaming 4K stick, with the Emby settings set to the default settings. She lives in Missouri and I live in Florida. It was a one time travel to set it up. I think its her internet, but not sure..here are the logs....Getting her to change anything in the Emby settings will NOT happen; she loses her tv remotes all the time so having her dig into the settings will FREAK her out... ffmpeg-transcode-45013371-dac1-454a-a4d6-683f0d657267_1.txtembyserver.txt

chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted January 7, 2025 Author Posted January 7, 2025 (edited) im hoping that she will play something..and is getting errors why is it Reducing bitrate due to quality settings. recovering from playback error? I know her playback > video quality > is set to AUTO I play the same file..and I get NO errors Next time I talk with her..I find out her internet speed... Edited January 7, 2025 by chrisrobbins1970
speechles 2055 Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 (edited) I think the problem is indeed when using AUTO her Roku has chosen a very low bitrate. VideoBitrate=146443&AudioBitrate=127999 It might have to do with how the WiFi is working to the streaming stick. You will be able to tell how poor the signal is based off this screen. The above is an example of poor network performance based on location of the device behind the TV. https://my.roku.com/hdmi You can get a FREE HDMI extender from Roku for your device if this is a Roku Streaming stick. You just need the serial number of the device and fill out the form above. The email you use to get this must be the same as the Roku with that serial number is registered under. Each serial number of a streaming stick can do this once. With the extender added it gives you more room to move it away from the TV interference and also stops the device from overheating which will also impact speed and performance. https://community.roku.com/t5/Remotes/Free-HDMI-Extender-I-cannot-fill-the-form-The-page-have-problems/m-p/812662/highlight/true#M34189 Roku does really send these. Here is mine above I posted to show this is real. ---- It isn't something easily fixable without actually being at her residence and checking the performance of her Roku with the WiFi secret screen. Then you can nail down if her router is on a bad WiFi channel with interference from neighbors or dead spots. Then find the right WiFi channel to get her router onto in order to best reach that Roku. Quote why is it Reducing bitrate due to quality settings. recovering from playback error? Because it is erroring while playing. The Roku is actively closing the video player and giving us error messages inside the app. We attempt to recover a few times. The app will attempt to seamlessly (without the user noticing unless they watch very closely) resume a few times before it finally aborts the playback entirely then gives her an error displayed on her screen with the same error message the Roku gave the app. Edited January 8, 2025 by speechles

That could be due to the actual internet connection, or the local network (wireless) connection as indicated by Spechles.
