Hi Luke, After latest major updates, Emby UWP app cannot be selected for single app kiosk (does not show up on the list), and if it is already selected prior to the update, it fails to launch nee version and kiosk shows blank blue screen. App has no problem launching outside kiosk mode btw. This is a major functionality for some of us. Can you fix it on future updates please? Version 2.207.2.0.

Hi, how do you select single app kiosk?

Posted

You go to Windows Settings. Search for kiosk. It is "Setup a kiosk (assigned access)". Press Get Started. Give a name to kiosk. Select  an UWP app for kiosk to use, (which you no longer can select emby). That is it. This feature enables us directly auto logon to an Windows envrionment where it launches only emby. This emby is fullscreen, cannot be resized, exited. Only thing you can do is ctrl alt del and switch to another windows account. Paired with a BT remote, it becomes a dedicated emby client.

Further Investigation: I manually set emby uwp as kiosk app (through powershell). It does not fail, because failed to start apps show a specific error message. But fails to load correctly and show the proper emby window, instead blank.

Steps to set manually. Create a local account without microsoft account, lets say named kiosk. Login to it. Install emby uwp inside. Logout to admin account. Run in elevated powershell:

Set-AssignedAccess -AppUserModelId EmbyMedia.EmbyTheater_svmepx4c03f7m!App -UserName kiosk

On windows website: Choose the application to run when the kiosk account signs in. Only apps that can run above the lock screen are available in the list of apps to choose from.

Simple explanation: The new Emby App is not UWP.

That is why. ok, I will try a workaround that was in my mind for other people that might be interested in emby kiosk and post the results here. Thanks for looking into it.
