HTTP vs HTSP - what's difference?

Hi,

Hoping to gain some enlightenment here on my current, working config.

In a nutshell I run Emby 100% on a LAN with TVHeadend interfacing with my TV tuner card for OTA channels plus a handful of IPTV channels. Though I have the TVHeadend plug in installed, I don't use it. I just use the M3U setup with the "pass" profile for streaming out of TVHeadend (via Emby).

Everything thing mostly works fine. I have times where the picture will freeze etc... but haven't figured out a cause yet.

At any rate... my setup is using HTTP on the HTTP port on TVHeadend (obviously).  Given HTSP runs on a different port on tvheadend, HTSP never is used.

Are there any advantages to trying to get HTSP working/used by Emby?

I can't seem to find the pros/cons of HTTP -vs- HTSP (if there are any).... though I'm a bit of novice with alot of this.

Hi.  You mean HTTPS/SSL?  If so, if you are only on your local LAN there wouldn't be much point.

Pretty sure they are referring to this.
