Nuggerto 0 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 App Version: 4.8.10.0 Version: 1.2.11 Running Truenas Scale on home NAS, using a iMac Web UI. Newbie warning… Trying to get my head around sort order - been reading posts for days and still no idea what’s going on. I have 2 ‘My Media’ folders - Movies / Tv Shows. Home screen 1 = My Media, Home screen 2 = Latest Media. So the Web UI shows My Media as the top row (Movies / Tv Shows), followed by two rows one above the other - Latest Movies / Latest Tv Shows. When I add a new Movie or Tv Show (using file transfer to the directory) - it pulls the metadata, adds poster images etc - all works but sometimes the new movie / Tv Show appears at the far left of the row and sometimes it appears at the far right (off screen). Even if I add them one after another. I’m guessing the sort order is pulling metadata to decide what order to display them in but I can’t work out what it uses - tried altering a lot but made no difference. I just want the newest file to display on the left side of the page. Maybe it has to re-index or is a cache issue? Any help appreciated.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 What is your "Date added behavior" set to in Settings>Library tab in the sidebar>Advanced tab top of the screen? It is likely set to "File creation date", you'd want "Date scanned into library" there.
Nuggerto 0 Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 Thanks - it is set to 'Date scanned into library'.
Nuggerto 0 Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 I just added 3 movies - one went to the right end of the 'Latest Movies', and 2 left to the left end. I'm sure it's something Ive done wrong - frustrating

Nuggerto 0 Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 Thank you for getting back to me - maybe it is a time / date setting Latest Tv Show (far left) - metadata shows added 04/01/2025 Latest Tv Show (far right) - metadata shows added 05/01/2025 Random in the middle of latest Tv Shows - metadata shows added 30/12/2024

It needs to be at the episode level, and you need to look at all of the episodes of the series and find the most recent date added. So for this reason, I would do this test on movies instead as it will be easier to trace down the issue. Please let us know what you find. Thanks !
Nuggerto 0 Posted January 6, 2025 Author Posted January 6, 2025 Thanks - I will do some more testing. The content I'm loading is my own DVD collection ripped. All series episodes will have the same 'date added'. I have over 6000 DVDs, and now retired I decided to back them all up to my NAS. I've loaded 150 so far - a long way to go so there's plenty of time for testing. Cheers
