Embodiment 28 Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 Who doesn't love a challenge, but three hours later I am at a loss. I have added, deleted, rebooted, un-installed Emby, refreshed metadata, etc. I have setup one show for my wife as her user and both under her account and the Admin account from the Home Screen cannot get the My Media to show the thumbnail of that show. If I click on the the Library, it says No items found. But under Episodes and Folders, the episodes are indeed there. What is the magic that I am missing in getting the program to show up?
Luke 42078 Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 Hi there, how are your files named and organized?
Embodiment 28 Posted January 5, 2025 Author Posted January 5, 2025 Thank you for checking in. I've spent about 6 hours on this project today. There is 'stuff' I just don't understand. My TV Shows are on three NAS drives. Mapped as O: P: and Q. TVShowsV1, TVShowsV2 and TVShowsV3 respectively. Under each are about 50 TVShows. I found tonight I could not point to for example just one TV Show in one of those NAS drives. IE. O:\Green Acres. It would not pull in a thumbnail as above. ---When I took the Green Acres entire folder and put it a new folder under O:\ such as my wife's name Annette. Hence, O:\Annette\Green Acres it pulled it in properly. But life isn't that simple. While that fixed a few shows, the first show above, The Donna Reed Show, I accidently deleted. So I just re-added it. It is not being seen now! Just the episode and folder view. Nothing changed, I just pointed it back to the same place. And that path is like P:\TVShows\The Donna Reed Show. So it isn't not pointed to directly as it seems I cannot do. And what also is a curious oddity is why it does not refresh the Show library thumbnail. Even with The Donna Reed Show gone, its still the Library Thumbnail. Doing library scans and refresh missing metadata does nothing.
Embodiment 28 Posted January 5, 2025 Author Posted January 5, 2025 Ok, so Emby will not pull a TV Show thumbnail when the path points directly to the folder of the show. It has to be a sub-folder of the main folder. I had this as a library path P:\TVShows\The Donna Reed Show. Changed it to P:\TVShows and it found the show. Got an education it looks like. Reminds me of Tiny Media Manager. Same requirement. --How do I refresh the main Library thumbnail? --and another time I will ask about downloading videos. I thought you could play them with Emby's player and it would bring down the .srt in same directory as the movie. This was not working at least on my wife's Window's Surface Pro.
Luke 42078 Posted January 5, 2025 Posted January 5, 2025 Hi, how many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?
Embodiment 28 Posted January 5, 2025 Author Posted January 5, 2025 I have four libraries at present. The path is /share/USB hard drive name/library name(s) of which there are four. Basically a Qnap NAS where the media is stored on the attached USB 3TB drive. I am confirming at least in my mind (cause it is working and I've since read the preferred method) of Main Folder name\TV Show Folders\ inside each TV show folder season folders With this method I can delete seasons where before I could not. I installed the MS store release of Emby so I will be seeing how that download feature works. If you are familiar with the Android Yatse, it downloads both the movie/show AND the SRT that resides in that movie/show folder. Then it run's within Yatse by calling up in my case MX player pro. I was hoping that is how Emby would work or thereabouts. IS there a way to refresh the library thumbnails. I have added some shows to my wife's library, but it has just four 'slices' of the same first show
Luke 42078 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 @Embodimenthas the library image changed by now?
