teonigil 10 Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 Everything was working fine this morning, zero changes.. and this happens out of the blue. Most of my collections are gone and the movie posters are messed up. All collections created manually. Hundreds of movies... many hours of work... can't restore them and no way am I going to do this work all over again... Very frustrating! Any ideas?
GrimReaper 4739 Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 (edited) Hm. Do you have "After the initial import, automatically refresh metadata from the Internet" library option enabled? The only other thing that comes to mind would be that your storage got disconnected between two scheduled library scans, resulting in removing/reimporting all the items. You might attach server log so maybe something might be glimpsed. Are you saving NFOs/artwork next to your media? Edited January 4, 2025 by GrimReaper
teonigil 10 Posted January 4, 2025 Author Posted January 4, 2025 I didn't do an import. I'm starting to think I may have selected "Refresh Meta Data" instead of "Scan Library Files" from the client folder menu by error. They are next to each other... Should change "Refresh Meta Data" to "Destroy all your work and start over"...

"Refresh Metadata" has another dialog window to confirm the operation plus explicitly opting whether to Replace existing images - it's improbable that you went through all that by mistake or not being aware of it. 10 minutes ago, teonigil said: I didn't do an import. That would've been done completely automatically (with no input from your side) if your storage was disconnected/reconnected before one and another scheduled library scans. teonigil 10 Posted January 4, 2025 Author Posted January 4, 2025 (edited) Trying to avoid this in the future I am thinking about moving the metadata to nfo files in the movie library folder. Running Emby server on Shield with movie files on Synology NAS. user 'player' with read/write permissions when created the folder in Emby. Read access is fine and everything works but nfo files not created with server throwing permission error when refreshing movie metadata. What am I doing wrong? teonigil 10 Posted January 10, 2025 Author Posted January 10, 2025 I did. Initially library access was read only so I changed to read/write in the shared Synology folder access for that user but no cigar.

teonigil 10 Posted January 14, 2025 Author Posted January 14, 2025 Yes. Otherwise I wouldn’t even have the read access permission, right?

teonigil 10 Posted January 25, 2025 Author Posted January 25, 2025 Thanks for trying to help but unfortunately I will not be using Emby any longer. Emby just trashed all my meta data AGAIN with no interaction on my end. Collections and images were all gone and many hours of work went to oblivion. All other apps are 100% and equipment is setup perfectly.

teonigil 10 Posted January 31, 2025 Author Posted January 31, 2025 You promise?! Based on what exactly? I have over 400 titles on my NAS.. takes many hours to set. It has happened twice already so why wouldn’t it happen again? I may consider giving your software another try if you fix the DV issue you’re having on AFS. BTW, Vimu media player is flawless on AFS and plays every single title DV7 or 10+ Emby couldn’t. 1
