mchahn 22 Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 I want my app to know what we are watching on ROKU while we are watching it. Is there a way to access Now Watching from the API? I could scrape it from the dashboard but I hate to scrape. Could webhooks help here?
Solution darkassassin07 652 Posted January 4, 2025 Solution Posted January 4, 2025 If you head to your server dashboard and click 'API' at the bottom, there's an api exploration tool. I don't know a whole lot about it; but poking around, it seems like 'GET /Sessions' under 'SessionsService' may be what you are looking for. 1 1

mchahn 22 Posted January 4, 2025 Author Posted January 4, 2025 Thanks to all. Good to know I can get it from the API. I'll try the dashboard API button. When I tried years ago I couldn't get it to work, even with help from here. Don't remember the problem exactly. Something to do with https. Homepage is interesting. It seems to be a kind of Home Assistant but for the cloud instead of the smarthome. I use Home Assistant constantly.. 1
mchahn 22 Posted January 4, 2025 Author Posted January 4, 2025 The amount of data in the API is awesome. Swagger works great. Thanks again.

Pretty much got all my links to my homelab on there and integrates with a lot of things using API. But off topic for this forum.
guunter 49 Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 But also a sidenote Jellystat is awesome for what you want. It ties in with emby now.
mchahn 22 Posted January 4, 2025 Author Posted January 4, 2025 My app is also quite awesome (IMHO) but it's not ready for public consumption. I don't think it is wrong to chat about 3rd-party stuff here as long as they supplement emby. My app only works with emby. The moderator might correct me.
