ginjaninja 605 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Ive just gone through an entire series, having to turn off subtitles on every episode as the smart behaviour didn't meet my preference. The issues seemed to be that the audio track had no language - it is fair to say having no language on the audio track is unusual.. but i understand the meaning of smart is Smart - Subtitles matching the language preference will be loaded when the audio is in a foreign language. So should the smart behaviour for: audio - language undefined, subtitle - native language - default=yes be subtitle off? - as the audio isnt strictly in a foreign language..it has no language. Should the smart behaviour assume an undefined language on an audio track be the preferred language of the user? Would that break any other more common cases? FWIW when i set the audio track to English, cleared my subtitle preference history, and rescanned, the smart behaviour did set the subtitle to off (my preference).

Luke 42077 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 The common case would be user with poorly tagged files who suddenly isn't getting subtitles selected. It's probably better as an explicit option.
