furnibird 6 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Hi All My current set up is a dedicated pc with internal storage for media. I am running win 11 and emby and that is it. I am about to install a new harddrive for OS and was thinking, do I really need win 11? Have read a bit about docker and was wondering what opinions are out there. Am running a i5 6thgen and 16gig of ram. I haven't used Linux in many years and wasn't very good at back then. Any information would be great. Thanks
Neminem 1519 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 I would stick to what you know, if you don't like to tinker. I switched from windows to unRaid, but it was a steep learning curve. But got there eventually. 1 1
furnibird 6 Posted January 3, 2025 Author Posted January 3, 2025 Ok thanks, I don't raid my drives. Don't see the point. I will look into de bloating win 11.

rbjtech 5284 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 You can also run Docker on windows .. so along with the advice here, I would also run what you know as your primary system. By all means play with other options (using docker,vm's makes this very easy) and once you are comfortable, then move over.
