StefanKlein 3 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 I have an MKV file with Atmos sound (Peter Gabriel I/O) and running Emby on a Fire TV Cube gen.3. But I can only get 5.1 sound instead of Atmos. Playing the same file on an Oppo 103 and 203 (via Emby or without Emby) plays the file as Atmos. Is there anything I can do to play the track in Atmos on the Fire TV Cube gen.3?
ebr 16169 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
StefanKlein 3 Posted January 3, 2025 Author Posted January 3, 2025 Hi "EBR", thanks for your reply. I have sent a protocol at 09:07 (or 09:06 maybe) Eastern time.My name on my Emby server is "Stefan". I have an MKV file with Atmos sound (Peter Gabriel I/O), but Emby on my Fire TV Cube gen. 3 only plays it as 5.1, although the info within Emby reports the track as 7.1. Anyway, that "7.1" track is actually an Atmos track, which is played correctly as Atmos, if...: - I play it on my Oppo 203 directly without Emby or - use Emby on my Android tablet and "send" it to the Oppo It´s not played as Atmos, if...: - I use Emby directly on my Fire TV Cub gen. 3 or - use my Android tablet and "send" it to the Fire TV Cube
ebr 16169 Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Hi. There was no playback in the log you sent but it sounds like maybe you are trying to play a TrueHD track and the device doesn't support TrueHD. Is that the case?
StefanKlein 3 Posted January 3, 2025 Author Posted January 3, 2025 Yes, it´s TrueHD, but that is supported by the Fire TV Cube gen.3

StefanKlein 3 Posted January 3, 2025 Author Posted January 3, 2025 Just did it (12:33 Eastern Time) .
Solution StefanKlein 3 Posted January 3, 2025 Author Solution Posted January 3, 2025 Okay, forget it! The audio setting in my Fire Tube was set to Dolby Digital+ and I now set to to "best available" and I´m getting Atmos sound out of the Fire TV Cube , when using Emby. I know, there was a reason, why I had set the Cube to Dolby Digital+ in the past, but I unfortunately forgot it..... Thanks for your patience and your help and sorry for the confusion! 1 1
