user84 46 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Decided to copy my files and start totally fresh with Emby. I'm using the same server, same external hard drives, and same files. But ever since starting fresh, I've had a variety of issues. When I pause, and then play, often the audio isn't synced properly (using an Amazon fire stick 4k which originally solved this problem about a year ago after I switched from Roku) But the issue I've had is that anytime I play a file initially, it takes a solid 10 seconds to get the file playing. I've been assuming this is because my external hard drives just aren't waking up, but I'm confused why this should be a new issue. So I'm looking for general troubleshooting advice. Would like to avoid having to start fresh again, but will do it if it's likely to solve issues. Does this sound like my database is corrupted? What steps can I take to troubleshoot?
Luke 42078 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Solution Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted January 2, 2025 Solution Posted January 2, 2025 I, just recently, removed and reinstalled Emby on my primary server. After i did that, even after all reported process seemed to be complete, I had several problems related to playback like mentioned here. I tried to investigate and found that my server was clearly doing "things" even though nothing was reported by Emby. When I saw that I left the server totally alone for 2 more days. I had only allowed it to apparently finish its visible tasks before. I used my backup server during the interarm. After waiting two more days I retried the primary server and everything was fine. I have noticed before that new installs were glitchy for the first couple or three days after the install but this is the first time it seemed like the server was buggy until several extra days passed. I now have been using the new server install for about a week and no further problems can I report. That is after about three extra days the server stabilized and has been perfectly fine ever since. (about a full week or so) I am now at the point where I wish I was as stable as my server.

For some reason, over time, all of my issues have disappeared. It's almost as if the initial runs on the library to create images, and populate cast and crew data, and all of those other things don't work effectively for the first few days. I noticed information did not populate within 24 to 48 hours, but after several days, things started to show up, bugs started to calm down, and glitches disappeared. My library is now fast to respond. Not sure what's going on here, but it is definitely a thing. Thanks for sharing your experience so I didn't go crazy posting log files.
