Improve playback control for app

Why does touching the screen anywhere without the on screen controls showing pause/play the video and show the controls

then if i want to hide it touching it above the upper half not on a button also triggers play/pause playback, touching buttons does not trigger this play/pause toggle but the button itself so that is good
but clicking on a none button areo does not hide the onscreen controls, i got to wait for how many seconds the timeout is...

it is very annoying and it buggers me a lot

app version: 2.2.33
iphone 15 pro
i do not know which devices and which app versions are affected, but atleast this is what i get

to be clear, the expected behaviour would be that the buttons work as expected, that touching the areas where no buttons are placed the controls are toggled, and that not touching the none controls area toggles the playstate, maybe some smart touch gestures like sliding on the left/right slide to change volume/brightness, double tap like skip x seconds, or such but not really because i do not use the shortcuts

if someone has a better title suggestion please give it, i can probably not change it so if a >moderator has a suggestion, please edit it
