ScipiusMaximus 2 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Hi All, Am running Emby on my own NAS, with a Premium License. Recently I installed the Emby Client on the new Google Streamer (basically Android TV). Am noticing some features are missing (such as a sort option for playlist contents). Also noticed there is a "unlock" option for the Android TV App. Though the message states that due to running a Premium License unlocking is not necessary. Would like to ask: If I were to unlock the app, does it unlock any features I don't have available yet? Or will it stay the same?

pwhodges 2012 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 You will gain nothing on your own server; if you use other servers, then unlocking gives the ability to play from servers which don't have premiere. Paul

You have presumably installed AndroidTV client app - try installing Standard/Universal Android client app from the store, which would likely give you the options you're looking for.
ScipiusMaximus 2 Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) Hi GrimReaper, Thans for your reaction. Indeed I had the AndroidTV Client installed. Swapping it out for the Standard Android App (That I also use on mobile and tablet) did the job. Didn't know those two apps had a difference. Also thanks to pwhodges for letting me know that unlocking on the Android TV App makes no difference in terms of functionality. Edited December 26, 2024 by ScipiusMaximus 1
HeySimmerdown 0 Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 if I delete the Envy client on my new ONN AndroidTV that suddenly started blocking viewing and install a sideloaded standard Emby client will the Premium notifications and play block stop? Im testing my network on multiple platforms and on a dozen devices and with a Jellyfin/Emby hybrid configuration & this torture notification only happens on the TV. I can feel the aneurism spreading in my head and the crying has to stop internet to contribute on GitHub and Azure communities but now I need to be alone. ----- meanwhile ----- I don't who's crash restoral feature just bright back this post after my phone crashed but if it's the Emby Community, THANK YOU! That restored my faith in humanity. And it arrested my conniption fit. --------- If the pay wall premiere sabotage notification returns, is there a hack that I can apply to stop it and return function. I do not use or need any premier features. I don't download, use subtitles or artwork, I have a Z420 with 128GB of RAM, dual Xeon prossesors with AMD 256GB gaymer graphics that some angel donated to me. So I don't need tanscoding and I don't know what cinema intros are and I don't do TV because of the infestation of humans ... I'm upset again. Ok. Thank you! This was productive. geek on . BTW Embys look & feel is slick. I'd totally monetize the hell out of it too. -Will

The app on the TV will allow 5 free devices for playback. Anything over that will require Premiere. We work very hard on Emby and there is only so much we can offer for free. Thanks for your support.
