Betonhaus 18 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Is it possible to define a library as "restricted" where: 1. Newly created accounts do not have access to it by default even with "all libraries" checked, as adding it requires an additional check 2. Those that do have access to the library do not have it's contents show up on suggestions in the play next or continue watching 3. That library is hidden from search 4. That library has metadata identification disabled as that one move was definitely not "Free Willy 3" and that other movie was definitely not a family Christmas special. 5. If possible, make the restricted folder semi hidden, where accessing it requires a couple other steps like entering a pin code. 1, 2, and 4 can be done with manually with a bit of work, but I can't see how to hide the contents of the library from search.
darkassassin07 652 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 No, there isn't. I wouldn't put that kind of media on the same instance you share with family. Mistakes are too easy to make and there's always a risk that access controls miss function due to currently unknown or future bugs. Run a seprate emby server for that. Docker is great for such things (running two emby servers on the same machine). 1
Betonhaus 18 Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 I dont see how to install a second Emby app on my android tv
Betonhaus 18 Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 (edited) Generally it doesn't have to only be for porn, but a restricted category that separates media some of your family or users would find controversial, such as Hazbin Hotel being hidden from your Evangelical relatives and Veggie Tales being hidden from your antifa relatives. Otherwise is there something a bit more barebones that can be proxied and accessed from an android tv or phone app? Edited December 25, 2024 by Betonhaus

Betonhaus 18 Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 oh i see. can the second emby server instance use the same paid premier license without it counting all the clients twice? Otherwise looks like I can just spin up a ftps docker which would be a lot more lightweight as all the metadata and organisation systems of emby are hilariously useless in this scenario

You can use the same licence across several servers with the same set of clients no problem. 1

Either a separate instance or a server on a different device will work. As darkassisn said - the licence is by client count. So 5 server instances with the same 5 clients is still only 5 clients......
