Multiple users - I don't get how it works

So I have two users set up on my household - me and my wife.

I signed out of Connect to simplify things. I am logged in with my user, then if I go to the avatar button it has an option to switch to my wife's account, which it does, without asking for a password.

Sweet.

Now I want to switch back to my account (admin), there's no friendly option. I have to choose a server and log in with username and password.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't this be easier?

I understand, from reading other threads, the requirements for passwords even on local access (which is my case; there's no remote access to my NAS box), but come on, it should at *least* offer to switch users even with a password entry? Why would I need to choose a server?

(As a side note, it's not clear to me how PIN works; is it instead of a password, or in addition?)

By the way I just realized that on my Android phone it works exactly as I want it to, instant switching between users, do I'm not sure what gives?

I am assuming this is for local users...  Under the user profile settings make sure you do not have the the following options checked...

- Hide this user from login screens on the local network.

- Hide this user from login screens on devices they've never signed into.

PIN is to used if you are switching to the user and want it secure.  So like switching from your wife's account to the admin.

Yes, those options are disabled for each user.

As for the first option, this (I guess) necessitates that the admin had set up the lan addresses. As I mentioned in another thread I had indeed set that up but probably through a mistake of mine the field (where the value had been 10.0.0.0/24) was empty, I have now repopulated it.

That leaves the second option; by itself it doesn't seem like it's affected by the network settings described above, *unless* it's dependant on the first option?

Thanks for the PIN clarification!

In that list of three options, I would just select the third one and deselect the others.  That should get you exactly what you want.

You have asked for that other account to be hidden from login screens, so it is.

No, as I said the options to hide users were *disabled*.

What is the third option? We discussed only two?

In any case, I think I solved it: for the entire thing to work local network must be properly configured. I think the whole workflow should be a bit more intuitive, even with a couple of helpful notes.

They aren't grouped very well on the page so it is hard to tell the are related but, if you only check this third option, it should behave like most other systems you are used to.

Oh I see,I don't even think I've noticed that one!

Got to say though, as in OP, my user *had* logged in (many many times actually)
