Thumbnails Wrong

Just installed EmbyCon last night and noticed the thumbnails are wrong. This is not true looking at the same movies on my tablet running the Emby app, nor on my Windows PC. Indeed, looking inside the movie folder the metadata and poster art is also correct. See for example the movie A Fistful of Dollars. Kodi of course displays them correct as well.

Any ideas or is this the nature of the beast?

switch back to the default skin, restart kodi, then open the EmbyCon addon from the kodi addons and go to your movies.

if that does not work open the EmbyCon and under action select clear stored cache.

if that does not work, disable all kodi addons except EmbyCon, restart kodi.

if that does not work, ??????

at this point i dont know. a log might help, in the advanced tab in EmbyCon settings turn on debug logging, reboot kodi, view your movies, pm me the log, i will have a look but i have no idea what could be causing the issue.

Got it working! I kept trying some of your suggestions and playing around. I finally downloaded another version I reckon and did a re-install.

I am running Kodi 20.5 and found Version 1.10.34 worked. I had tried 1.11.36.

All thumbnails are correct now.

BTW, anyway to hide the password in the plugin?

Thank you for all your help especially this busy time of year!

Below are the Zip files I downloaded. Still need to figure out which one had Version 1.10.34 in it.Capture.JPG.ff1582b71460e236a88902acd369103e.JPG

that is a little weird as nothing has really changed in the image handling between 1.10.* and 1.11.* but I am glad you are making progress.

no, the password is stored in clear text in the settings and displayed in the clear in the UI.

I guess the settings UI field could be set as a password field which I think shows (****), that would stop the password being shown in the settings UI but it would still be stored in the settings file as clear text.

The login system was built way back in the first iteration, probably 10 years ago now, the best way forward would be to switch to using a token storage approach with is a more modern approach, not infallible, but better as password are not saved on the client device at all. Though at the moment then is no work planned for this.

EDIT:
It looks like there IS a way to not have password show up in the addon settings dialog interface. I forgot about this approach, I had a quick glance at the code and realised this had come up before, you can turn off persists user login info in the setting just under the user name password option in the EmbyCon settings. This will stop saving the last session's user/password in the Addons settings. Username and password will no longer be saved or visible in Addon settings dialog.

If you then select don't save password each time you log into a user with a password, the password will never be saved on the client at all. If you do save it at user selection, then it will only save to internal storage and will not be visible in the Addons settings dialog.

This morning I brought up the screen where the username and password is entered. I noticed right away the password was filled with (****). That was the thing I was looking for; not sure why it kept my password visible a few times I opened it back up yesterday.

So if I toggle Persist User Details to 'off,' I assume I will need to enter the password each time?

Thank you for going the extra mile and checking on this. I work in IT and we are constantly drilled about security protocols.
