I'm noticing lately emby app is getting reommended more by luke in many threads to try vs other app say for Fire TV.

Going forward can they emby for firetv codebase be merged as same code that emby uses. This would be helpful.

Hi.  The standard Android app is already available in the Amazon store to install on your Fire device.

Emby's goal is to have only one Android app, at least get rid of the ATV app.  That's why Luke 'recommends' it.

Yes I understand that. What I mean is. My family and cousins have already installed and use emby for fire tv. I tried to install just emby but it does not have an unlock app function. So, it now forces me to get emby premier which for my own reasons I don't want to do. Why can they not unlock the app same as before? Can that at least be an option?

That's exactly my problem as well. "Use the standard Emby app in your TV instead" is a useless advice if you have no premiere because the standard app needs unlock to work on TV. And like you said, unlock is broken.

I hope for a fix, or probably go elsewhere.

1) Try adding an Internet Browser app to your TV.  If you have a domain name for your Emby server, that is best.  Most TV Internet browser apps have a problem going to an IP address.  You can try an incognito browser window for an IP address.  That may help. JioSphere works OK, but no TV App browsers work perfectly.  Most have issues with scrolling and are sort of annoying to deal with.

2) Use Mobile app for iOS or Android and see if the TV is available to cast from inside Emby.  This should make a direct connection, bypassing the mobile and you should be able to pause, rewind, fast forward, turn on subtitles, play, pause and stop from your Firestick remote.  There is an issue that Firestick on it's own blocks incoming casting from Emby Mobile.  I am not aware of all the possible solutions.  I did notice that Emby can possible see a Firestick TV app, if you load Kodi in Firestick developer mode and just turn Kodi on.  Amazon blocks most all 3rd party access to Firestick.  They don't mention that when you buy it.

3) Get Google TV 4K Onn from Walmart for $20.  Then mobile Emby can then cast and find the TV.

4) Connect a notebook computer via HDMI to the TV and access Emby.  Select multi- montior mode [Windows key P], or [Apple key P].  Then playback content on the notebook feeding the TV set.  This is actually the easiest solution, but you need an HDMI cable.
