Airbender 128 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Hello everyone, I'm returning to Emby after taking 9 years off from the media center world. I hope I don't step on anyone's toes or make anyone angry. Yesterday, while configuring Emby, I noticed that when creating user accounts and adding libraries to each account, there is no option to push a sync to the client device or user profile. I believe a server-side setting or update that includes an option to push updates to client devices would be great. It would also be beneficial to have logs or an option to see which devices were updated, which ones failed, and why they failed. Hopefully, there will be an option that shows the progress of the sync and indicates when each user account or profile is updated. This way, users can test the new settings on their devices and report back to the admin of their Emby server if the settings worked or not. Thanks in advance
Airbender 128 Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Hello all, Yesterday, I created users and assigned them to libraries. However, I noticed that when I added more library items and then modified user access to the library, the changes did not take effect, even after rebooting the Emby server. This seems to indicate a synchronization issue between client devices and the library created after the user account was set up. A temporary fix involved removing all users and clearing data from all devices. Then, I created all libraries first, manually recreated each user one by one, and assigned the libraries to each user as desired. this fix my issue now but in the future when i will add more libraries i wonder if sync will be an issue The devices i am using is Samsung Cell phone and fire stick and users account i created was about 5 users with different permission and library access Apologies if this does not make sense i will try my best to explain it better but in nutshell what i am asking is an options in the server to sync to client devices with some sort of progress bar or indications so we know if setting has been push down or devices syncing or not with the server in this example was users access to the library TV Shows , Movies , Anime ect Please advise Thanks
TZTZoro 26 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 So you made changes on the server and the clients are not up to date? Try restarting the app on the client like tv, mobile(really restarting not just minimizing it) if you do not know how, try restarting the client device as an easier explanation or for the web version, refresh the web page the clients only request the data from the server on specific events, one of them is at boot. if you add more content while watching something not all clients are always in sync @Airbender
Airbender 128 Posted December 21, 2024 Author Posted December 21, 2024 That is the point of this feature I did all kind of troubleshooting including resting the devices one by one many times
