Asazen 8 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) I have 2 problems. I usually play BDMV but I've been trying for a few weeks with MKV files and to my surprise I've encountered 2 problems on LG WebOS TV. - The first is that it doesn't play subtitles even though I have them checked (I'm referring to internal mkv subtitles in .srt format, plain text. I didn't test if the PGS plays them.) On the PC the subtitles work correctly. - The second is that although my TV is Dolby Vision emby plays it in HDR, at the time of preproduction the TV shows a sign if it's Dolby Vision or HDR and always jumps to HDR. SamES 1056 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 DV on LG only works in MP4. Can you make sure that you have all these user options enabled, and that this setting is enabled in Transcoding settings on the server 2

SamES 1056 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 No, you need to manually change the container for DV, but if you disable any of those options it might impact the subtitle extraction process
Asazen 8 Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 Regarding DV, you told me that LG only plays DV in MP4, is there no way for Emby to force it to play? And regarding the subtitles, it is clear that it is an error in the APP because on PC, FireTV, Android TV, mobile the subtitles work fine.

No, not at present. We would need to know whether the TV supports DV or not, and for that we are limited by the webOS api's and how well this is supported by LG. There are also some other complications, but it might be possible in the future. 2 hours ago, Asazen said: And regarding the subtitles, it is clear that it is an error in the APP because on PC, FireTV, Android TV, mobile the subtitles work fine. It's possible, but those devices might be able to support playback without subtitle extraction, but for the LG it might be required. If you have those settings disabled, then enabling them to confirm if that is the issue is the first step. Aside from that, we would need more information to understand this issue more fully.

SamES 1056 Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 In the server settings, in the Transcoding section, do you have this enabled?
Asazen 8 Posted January 12, 2025 Author Posted January 12, 2025 5 hours ago, SamES said: In the server settings, in the Transcoding section, do you have this enabled? Yes, it is enabled, and the server was reinstalled from scratch just 1 week ago so there is no error in it. Tomorrow I will upload the logs after playing them in the LG app. 1 1
HombreCojin 1 Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 Hi, did you manage to solve the problem? The same thing happens to me on LG and Samsung, and I have all the options above checked.

I decided to use the Android version on a TV box (NVIDIA SHIELD) and everything works perfectly. Edited March 12, 2025 by Asazen

After you start playback, how long do you wait? For the first time extraction might take a minute or two. Were there any ffmpeg logs generated at the same time?
fabien_m2002 5 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Hello same issue on my LG G2 (WebOS 25), subtitles does not appear on some movies. For some movies, there is a long delay (1 or 2 minutes) before sub appears. I have testes same movies with Emby on Chrome, no issue.

Hi, this can happen if the extraction takes a long time in your environment. We are working on a new way to stream them in little by little so that it doesn’t have to wait for the full extraction. 1
