kelstar 1 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) So when I started using Emby I noticed one very uncomfortable thing when selecting subtitles or audio track there's only language and format info presented but it's quite impossible to distinguish Full subtitle from SDH ones or for example Original track from Commentary (or some different studion of voiceover). This additional info is presented in the file, as Jellyfin and Plex can display it. So I would very much like to ask to add this small but important quality of life improvement so that Emby can show it too. See for the screenshots and photos to fully get the idea of what I am talking about. Spoiler Edited December 13, 2024 by kelstar hide pictures under spoiler
ebr 16169 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
kelstar 1 Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 Thank you for your fast reply! I tried and indeed, just an android version has this 'Embedded Title" shown, but there are two reasons why it's not an option for me to use that app: 1. It lacks certain transcode features such as convert unsupported audio to dolby audio. It matters a lot to me, since some media files have truehd or dts codec which is unsopported by my tv and i want them to be transcoded to dolby, not stereo. 2. I have already paid one-time fee to unlock the TV app, and I wasn't able to find how to include it into just an android app So i'd really love to see this simple feature in the Emby for Android TV app The device I am using is Chromecast with Google TV and the TV is LG
Luke 42077 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Hi, we will be adding those options to the Emby standard Android app.

That would actually be great, standard app looks very nice, is it the recommended way to using Emby then? And also could you please share some timelines when those features are planned to be added?
Luke 42077 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Hi, yes Emby for Android is the way forward. I don't have ETA's on specific changes but we are working on it. Thanks.
