kmartinka 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Hello, I received the latest Emby Roku app (4.1.30) today. When attempting to log on to the Emby server (4.8.10.0) with my default Emby account, the app closes out and returns to the Roku home screen during loading of the Emby home screen. This occurs on both my Rokus and this started after the the new update. I have attempted to remove and reinstall the app on one Roku, but this did not resolve the issue. I am unable to send Roku log file because of the issue. The same Emby account works perfectly in Windows. Please let me know if you need any additional info or files.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Just as a point of info I am also on 4.1.30 on my Rokus (2 ultras) and I have no problem with logging onto either of my servers. (one is on the release software and the other is on the beta) I think the first thing to do is reboot your server and power restart your Roku. The old "turn it off and then on" trick works for almost everything a lot of the time. Sometimes thing in any computerized system just goes wonky and a full restart is needed to get things back stable.
kmartinka 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I tried that. It's still the same problem. The interesting thing is I can select through the options without issue. It's only when I select the user account. 20241210_223536.mp4 Edited December 11, 2024 by kmartinka
cadyWompus 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Same thing happening to me, restarted everything, no difference. Exact same as kmartinka. App opens to server select screen, but crashes and goes back to Roku home as soon as I try to login to my Emby server.
kjenkins46214 1 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I'm having same issue, but what's really strange the crashing app only affected my Roku sound bar. Our Roku tv, android apps, even my iPhone app is fine.
ebr 16169 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Hi. Is this only on one specific account? 9 hours ago, cadyWompus said: App opens to server select screen Is that how you have the app configured or was that a new behavior with this release?
kmartinka 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 For me, the problem seems to be occurring with the User account that does not have a password assigned. I only have one User that does not have a password, but the other Users with passwords work fine.

Would you be able to install that and test it?
cadyWompus 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Ahh, yeah the account I was using didn't have a password, kmartinka is on to something. I tried putting a password on it but it still closes out. I'll test later (reinstalling Emby app on Roku or creating a new user account with a password) 1
kmartinka 3 Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 ebr has a new fixed Roku Emby beta build that I tested. My issue seems to be resolved from the new build. I assume it may be released soon, but I'm sure we'll be informed when that happens. 1
billbrown 1 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 How do I download the Beta version. I'm having the same issue

billbrown 1 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Thank you so much, truly appreciate it 1
Jeebs 0 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I'm having the same issue with the same app version. How do I go about getting and installing the beta version?

Mizgeministarz 0 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 This is also happening to me. The app opens on the Roku player and asks to select a server. It shows my username as a server as well. Selecting anything, even SIGN OUT, is unresponsive. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the behavior persists.

I am still unable to sign out (button is unresponsive), and when I select my username to log in, the screen spins indefinitely. I have uninstalled the app, reinstalled, connected via pin (which results in the app force closing), re-opened the app and am brought to the screen in the photo. I select my username and the spinning goes on indefinitely. When I try to back out from the spinning screen, the app is unresponsive. When I click on the home button for the Roku, and enter the app again, I am brought back to the screen in my photo. If I hit back from here and select SIGN OUT, nothing happens. The button is unresponsive.
speechles 2055 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 @MizgeministarzThank you for your continued help in finding the cause of this bug. This is a soft-crash happening in the application when the spinner just goes endlessly. This is why you need to press the home button to exit the app. Also why the back button brings you to an unresponsive screen. First off. It appears by that screen you are using Emby Connect. Is this your own server on your local LAN or is this someone elses server? The reason I ask is because I am trying to replicate your conditions exactly and see if I can encounter the same bug. We might also ask if you could perhaps add us temporarily to your server with the same Emby Connect method so we can experience the bug that way. Would you be up to allowing us temporary access to your server to replicate the issue?
Mizgeministarz 0 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Unfortunately this is my brother’s server, so I would be unable to grant those permissions. The app worked perfectly fine before the last 2 updates (one of which being last night). He just moved his server off Plex to Emby because it was supposed to work better, but that’s not been my experience thus far. Sorry I can’t help more by providing a live troubleshooting environment. It would be appreciated if you could find the issue so we can continue to use Emby.
