Henkmeister 3 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 /bin/ffmpeg -loglevel +timing -y -print_graphs_file /config/logs/ffmpeg-transcode-7ed98c15-a6da-42f0-8785-ecbf3fe6e494_1graph.txt -copyts -start_at_zero -f matroska, webm -c:v:0 hevc -noautorotate -c:v:1 mjpeg -i I did try to playback this file hours ago, but it froze so I just shut my Nvidia Shield Pro off. What is emby still doing?? It is a 4K UHD file with Dolby TrueHD 7.1, I have a 2.1 audio system only and have selected the usb output for sound from Shield. I have very basic Supermicro with 2.2 Ghz integrated Intel so I have tried to have no extra addons etc. in my server. I have not seen this problem for a while, but unRAID got update some while ago, could that somehow effect playback? I did even try the DD 5.1 track but it did not play any better. I would also like to suggest a one button - 'Kill all background processes when watching a movie'. Sometimes Emby starts doing something and it starts to stutter the video. If anyone can guide me to right direction, I would be very happy! Thanks!
Henkmeister 3 Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 I now stopped Emby, restarted and tried only with EAC 5.1 track and the playback seems smooth. Is it the server or the playback device that is transcoding the audio?

If conversion is required, it is done on the server. The Nerd stats on each client should tell you why conversion/transcoding is happening/needed.

But it should not continue transcoding after the playback has been stopped, let alone the client being shut off?

I used htop to see why my server still had almost 100% load even after I shut off the client. That command line in my original post was shown several times.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Then to me would suggests the client never sent stop command to server or even seen the client is no longer there. How long did you wait? As the server can take a little bit of time to relieve the client is no longer there if the failure to communicate situation happens. But devs will need all information server and possibly client logs for when it happens.

Thanks, I will try get logs when this happens.
