The content is not sorted from A to Z even though I put it by "File name" or "Title" I tried all the options and none of them organize it well, as you can see in the capture, in front of the A there is an S.

In your example there is an inverted exclamation mark "¡" before the capital "S". 

If you remove this from your Sort Title, then the symbol will be retained in your visible Title but Emby will sort the Movie under "S".

Thanks, I noticed that detail before creating the thread, but that is a problem that emby would have to solve and omit that special character. On the other hand, it happens to me in many more without a special character, this one was chosen at random, now I will put more screenshots.

For your problem movies what does Emby show for Title and Sort Title?

Emby automatically removes "The" from Sort Title for English language.

Possibly the same automatic removal may be happening for "Los" for Spanish language???

What happens if you manually change your Sort Titles?

Also, you need to lock any of the titles if you don't want Emby to change or update them.

Ahh well it seems that this is my problem, emby during the scan puts a different name in "Sort by title" and it should put the same one of the main title and the user should change it and block it if necessary, this is clearly an emby error, let's see if some developer responds and can correct it because doing this in the whole library manually is crazy.

All the "El" "La" etc.. are removed from my order of titles. In Spanish.

At least now you are understanding more about what is happening. 

I just asked Microsoft Co-pilot AI which words does Emby automatically remove - this was the answer:

Well, I think that the "title" and the "sort title" should be the same and that it should be the user who changes it if necessary. In a collection of 10 films it is not noticeable but in one of 300 or more it is crazy to change all those incorrect titles, which I really do not understand why it does....

What could possibly suit you, without negatively impacting on others, is for there to be a library import option in Settings (e.g.)

Preferred Sort Title Importing

• Sort Title removes common prefix words (A, An, The)
• Sort Title remains the same as Title

Maybe there is a workaround method that will achieve this now, but I don't know myself...

There should be a system.xml in your emby servers config dir.

In mine I see this.

You could try a edit that, and restart your server, do a metadata refresh.

In most file browsers though, typically this character would cause it to get sorted at the top or bottom, no/

The thing is that I follow those instructions, I follow them but I can't find this option:

Yes, it's Copilot, but as @Luke told me it could be activated... Look 2 or 3 messages above in Luke's response, and if one of the developers doesn't know where to configure that.

Anyway, if it's not there, they should add it because the user should have complete control over the library and at least the option to remove those absurd restrictions, which I really need someone to explain why these restrictions are in place.

This is what I found from very limited testing:

• if the special character is in both "Title" and "Sort Title", then it gets sorted first.
• if the special character is manually removed from "Sort Title" only, then the sort is alphabetical.

AFAIK, Emby will automatically import as follows:

• special characters are retained in the "Sort Title" (e.g. inverted exclamation mark).
• selected prefixes are removed from the "Sort Title" (The, Los, etc.).

I think the OP may be wanting Emby to work the opposite way?

Perhaps this would logically mean that there needs to be not 2, but 4 options, if the importing ever became customisable:

• special characters are removed and selected prefixes are removed.

That could well be a lot of work for Emby for only a small benefit for most??? (I don't actually know though!!!)

For me (but possibly not the OP), this would be a "nice to have" rather than a "must have".

Just goes to show that what seems to be a simple request could easily be much more complicated.

You have to go to since Synology something like Data path: /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/config/system.xml and edit it.

It doesn't work for me, neither commenting out that part nor deleting it.

Steps I follow:

1. /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/config/system.xml

2. I make a backup of the original and in a copy I delete the entire part of the code or comment it out (tested both options) and save it.

3. From the Emby control panel, I update the entire library (update metadata) and it continues removing "La". https://prnt.sc/TbFQvjYbtBYJ

4. I delete the identification of that movie and identify it again, it continues removing "La".

What I honestly don't understand is why Emby removes that? It does more harm than good (I don't see any benefit in it).

If you remove the configuration altogether, then the server will reset it back to the default value.

Instead, keep SortRemoteWords, but don't have any strings inside.
