GuyBee 2 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Shield pro 2019 android client (not android tv). Connected to q990b -> x90k. Emby server windows 4.9.0.32 beta Let me preface this by saying I can play remux 4ks with direct play. I don't need transcoding. However live tv has suddenly started transcoding. (Maybe since latest beta server?) I disabled transcoding against my profile - but now if I go anywhere that might require transcoding I'll have to reenable it? Is there something else I can do to force direct play for live tv only? Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Hi there, have you explored the stats feature in the video player to learn why it was doing this?
GuyBee 2 Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Here's the info from stats: Stream HLS (10 mbps 26 fps) Video Video 10 mbps Transcode (H264 10 mbps) Deinterlacing (mode=send_frame:parity=auto:deint=all) Renderer MediaCodec Audio Transcode (AC3 192 kbps)
GuyBee 2 Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Tried on android tv client and same issue. However the issue is still there.. so it must be that stream - I try a different stream of the exact same thing and it's fine... This is the stats from the direct stream: Stream MPEGTS (9 mbps) → Direct Play Video 1080p H264 High 42 9 mbps 50 fps → Direct Play Renderer MediaCodec Audio EAC3 stereo 192 kbps 48000 Hz → Direct Play Any ideas what's special about this stream from the above sets of stats?

GuyBee 2 Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Could you please elaborate? I see that in the stats output.. is there a setting I should change somewhere to handle/prevent that?
