swandruski 12 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I apologize if this issue is discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. I have three folders for music on my NAS box. One is for surround sound versions of albums. Initially I had an Emby Music Library that pointed to all three folders. However I recently decided to split out the surround sound versions into a separate Emby Library called Surround Music. When I go into that Emby Library and use the navigation menu at the top I only see the artists, album artists and albums in that folder. However, if I go into an artist, or album artist, it shows all of the albums from that artist including ones in the folders that this Library should not see. I I click on an album that is not in the surround music folder on the NAS box it plays just like it would in the main Music Library. Basically, within the Artist or Album Artist view, the program sees all of the albums for that artist. The same thing happens when I'm in the main Music library - the surround albums are visible there if I look under the Artist or Album Artist views. this is not the behavior I was expecting. I'm on an nVidia Shield and a Western Digital PR4100. Both the server and app versions are up to date.
visproduction 315 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Swan, Have you noticed the metadata entry for artists? I know there is an option in a Music Video library. I am not sure about just music. I don't use that. In that artist field you enter each artist separated by a semicolon and click the Save button. This way the song shows up on the each artists page.

Hi. Yes, once you get to an Artist page, you see all content on your server from that artist. There is no library context for this at this point.
swandruski 12 Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 OK, I guess this is normal behavior. It obviously isn't what I was expecting, but I can deal with it. I suppose that very few people have separate music libraries with overlapping artists. It might be nice to add an option to either have everything visible in the Artist page in each library, or limit it to only things in that library. Thanks. 1
