New App Release Date?

I have installed the app on Windows from the app store. And that plays fine HEVC videos on my PC Core i5 10400F, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA VC.

So it is the same version like in Xbox.

So is it only the XBOX app that has the HVEC issue or also the Windows APP?

The Windows app is using an entirely different player (mpv). There are no restrictions for that app.

Yes Windows version ie 3.0.20 is a Windows install where this App Store version is available to all Windows and XBox also.

But a PC/Desktop user should really be using the desktop version not that app store version, but it is still your choice.

No. The Xbox app and Windows app are using different players. The Xbox app is currently using the Windows player, which is why Microsoft can mess with it. The Windows app is still using mpv and has no restrictions.

Totally scratching my head here on why move to something that prevents one of the most common video formats from being played?

Microsoft only just pulled support for it, during the app submission to the store.

For those that need to watch HEVC what are the options, can the app be rolled back to an earlier version? are there any other xbox clients that work with emby and can play HEVC?  (I know VLC can but its not a very family friendly app interface wise)

Will try.. but it cannot be used for me without HEVC support.

HEVC looks to works with direct play on my Xbox 😁👍

The new video quality settings are a stroke of genius, you can select a present then move to the customise section which is populated with your preset settings and further tweak as desired.

Refresh rate matching is also much better.

The only thing that could be improved is the tv mode scaling, the tv guide on a 75” 4K tv is massive. Maybe there could be a TV-small and TV-large display setting.

There's no more need for this.

We're well on track now and got assured our case to be reviewed again in January.
