PeteD 3 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Last year I added 'Christmas' as a genre to all my Christmas films and set the lock on the metadata. Over time those films disappeared from my Christmas Genre view. I tried again this year so on the 22nd November I set 10 films: This is how 'Arthur Christmas' and all the others looked when I set it (saved & padlock set): Today I found the same thing had happened again and I have just 5 films in the Christmas genre: 'Arthur Christmas' & the other missing films have lost the genre & the lock: I don't know exactly when my genre was lost but I have the metadata updating every 30 days which I expect is the cause of this. Unfortunately, I don't have anything in the logs - I searched for film titles - (which go back to 3rd December). Would I be correct in thinking that applying the lock should preserve my manual updates and this may be a bug, or am I misunderstanding? Many Thanks

Will have to look but thought similar has been reported before. What server version? What library metadata reader and writer settings? Probably need to see a server log also. PeteD 3 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Server Version 4.8.10.0 Is there any other info you need? I'll try and keep an eye out for when another film disappears so I can provide a useful log covering the event when it happens. Thanks!
ebr 16184 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hi. If you are going to customize your metadata, I HIGHLY recommend checking that last box to save NFO files. That should ensure that your customizations will be retained. 1
Neminem 1519 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Also if you use Radarr turn off metadata in there. It can change metadata on upgrade, update etc. 1

Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Looks like everyone has covered it but do you have nfo file with media also? As it suggests you edit media in Emby and only written to DB then at some point the NFO file is reread and clears the DB only information and clears the lock as the nfo does not contain locked field data. 1
PeteD 3 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 I do have nfo files and what you've said makes perfect sense. I'm following the advice from above and will see if my collection holds over the coming weeks. Many thanks to all the responses
