djerniehoule 23 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Hey guys, I am using https://epg.starlite.best/utc.xml.gz with my Apollo TV, this source seems to work well, there are some gaps, but I am afraid at some point it'll go down.. I see all these programs to DIY bestepg, etc... I don't understand any of it. I've tried following the instructions, but I'm still lost. Is there anyway to upload my M3U's and come out with a proper epg that I can host myself?

gillmacca01 211 Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 If you are looking for UK, USA or Canadian listings, you can't go far wrong with using Emby Guide Data

I use the same Provider and I can see why you would think it may go down at some point being they have not had a working EPG in months prior to this URL you provided. I use this to grab around 250 channels as a backup EPG just in case it does happen to go down again. https://github.com/iptv-org/epg So if you are in the US Then I can give you the custom channel list for those 250 channels to use or you can build your own custom list it works very well.

The "one-time" problem is that it's difficult to match up IPTV channels to Emby guide data. What I like to try and do is use the IPTV provider's XML guide data to get started with, then start replacing guide data a channel at a time matching channels to Emby's guide data. 7 hours ago, JIsenhour247 said: I use the same Provider and I can see why you would think it may go down at some point being they have not had a working EPG in months prior to this URL you provided. I have no why it takes so long to fix guide data on this platform but it's not the first time EPG has had problems. Until our NextGen TV is live which improves channel management a lot I'd suggest setting up an account and using M3U4U.com and curating your channel list here. They make it easy to work on any number of channels at a time. You can regroup channels, rename including search & replace, sort, number, logo, etc... That's just the playlist side. They also have the same EPG guide data you'll find on github including the sources that Apollo uses. You can mix and match channel mappings using your own EPG sources or your own. M3U4U doesn't act like a proxy as your streaming URLs are untouched. M3U4U only helps your curate the playlist and setup a guide to use. You setup a time like 1am you want M3U4U to pull the playlist from your ISP, reprocess it to match the playlist you setup up as the template. They provide URLs for the pre-processed playlist and guide data that you setup in Emby. That makes it a lot easier to get starting with IPTV in Emby as you've already curated your channels down to a working amount you'll actually use, have good grouping, have set the order of your groups. Have re-arranged the order you want them to display and have numbered your channels (every part optional). You also have a working guide to get you started while you manually map channels to Emby's guide data at least for the main channels you use. Carlo
