Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 (edited) Hello, I have several movies with embedded subtitles, however, emby doesn't recognize "zh-Hant-TW", and still labeled it with "Chinese Simplified". Strangly enough, it recognize "zh-Hant-HK" and labeled it correctly with "Chinese Traditional". Please help me figure out if it's a bug or am I doing something wrong. Luke 42077 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Hi, where does zh-Hant-TW come from? Can’t you use zh-Hant?
Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 Hello, I've tried using zh-TW, zh-HK, zh-Hant-TW, and zh-Hant-HK, including zh-Hant, and zh-Hant is labeled as "Chinese Simplified" as well.

Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 (edited) Both Taiwan and Hong Kong use Traditional Chinese, but with slighty different; therefore, we need different ISO codes for better usage. Anyway, zh-TW, zh-HK, zh-Hant-TW, zh-Hant-HK, z-Hant, all should be Chinese Traditional. The "t" in zh-Han"t" means for "Traditional", and zh-Han"s" is the one for "Simplified". Luke 42077 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 OK we'll add support for these two. Thanks.

Also, I think Chinese language codes without region specified, such as chi, zh, should only be labeled as "Chinese" instead of "Simplified Chinese", that's really unfair for traditional Chinese users. pic 3 is how your "relatives" handle this problem.
Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted March 31, 2025 Author Posted March 31, 2025 (edited) Expected results would be: Chinese: chi zh Traditional Chinese: zh-Hant zh-TW zh-HK zh-TW-Hant zh-HK-Hant Simplified Chinese: zh-Hans zh-CN zh-CN-Hans Edited March 31, 2025 by Yuchenjimmy
Luke 42077 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 All of these are already supported except for zh-HK-Hant and zh-CN-Hans, so we'll add those.
Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted April 2, 2025 Author Posted April 2, 2025 Hello, thst's minor. The major problem is you can see zh-Hant is still listed as "Chinese Simplified".
Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted April 2, 2025 Author Posted April 2, 2025 (edited) And I suggest seperate zh-TW and zh-HK as well. For instance: Chinese Traditional zh-Hant Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) zh-TW zh-TW-Hant Chinese Traditional (Hongkong) zh-HK zh-HK-Hant Edited April 2, 2025 by Yuchenjimmy 1
Yuchenjimmy 11 Posted April 2, 2025 Author Posted April 2, 2025 Last but not least, please do consider make zh and chi show as Chinese, instead of Chinese Simplified.
