jbourne 0 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Situation: I play music by going to Music > Folders (because my tagging is really bad, but folder structures are done well, so I just navigate to the folder where my albums are and load the M3Us in there). Emby will play the M3U just fine. However, if I exit Emby (either by pausing the track and navigating away from it for an extended period of time, or whatever), and return to it, it's as if I never played that track: it is not in my current playlist, if I go to Music, I'm back to album view, if I go to Folders then I have to navigate all the way down into the folder (never mind that the M3U is not loaded, so I don't know which track I was on, etc). Is this expected behaviour? Is the only way to correctly remember positions to play from the Album view? (I didn't try it because I don't want to have to retag all my music if this is the reason - I'd rather look for another solution to play music, it would be faster...). This happens on both the iOS and the Android client.
visproduction 315 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Maybe this setting will help: Admin page Library Individual library - three dots button Pop-up selection - Edit Bottom of the page - Adjust the settings to allow shorter songs to be remembered.
jbourne 0 Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 Hmm this is for music videos, isn’t it? I meant just pure music, ie MP3s - so in the Music library, I don’t seem to have this option at all? Btw running 4.9.0.30.
Luke 42079 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Hi, what do you mean by it's like you never played the track?

No, I basically expect something like an audio player’s behaviour. In other words: 1) Similar to a video player, maybe have a tile on the main page that says “Music” and that would continue playing the playlist that was previously loaded, and 2) At the very least if I click the Music tile, it would at least remember the state of the folder browser - so basically if I navigated 5 levels down, it should reopen with the same folder so I can load the playlist again. A typical use case is, in the case of a vehicle: 1. Start engine, load playlist, begin playback 2. Stop engine, exit car, go to a store 3. Get back in the car, start engine, continue music playback Currently, 3 does not look possible without completely reloading the playlist manually.
Luke 42079 Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 OK yea we do this for audiobook libraries but not currently music libraries. But more options to control this are possible for future updates. Thanks.

I’m guessing this isn’t very high priority.
Luke 42079 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I don't have an ETA but it's certainly possible for the future. Thanks.
nospotify 184 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 This is related to this "this is related to" Basically the Music play queue could really use some attention.
