whubbartt 1 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Hi all; I don't know where to put this but I really could use a little bit of help. I am really new to Emby but I come from Kodi, Plex, Jelly, video store and now to Emby. I like to tinker with my media server to give it the best experience. I am not a fan of the Emby development team taking away the ability to add 3rd party plugin repositories easily . I think that addition gives the would really benefit the platform a lot more and that would put it above the rest. They must have their reasons for doing this though. I think the Embu Android TV app is miles ahead of Jellys but I really would like to be able to play with some of the skins and other plugins that are not in the Emby plugin store. I am told that Emby has a great skin manager but I can't find a lot of documentation on how to use it.. The Emby team says to install a plugin just drop a dll file in the plugin directory and restart but yet I tried this and it did not pickup the plugin. What if the file is more than just a 1 dll and has some other files that go with it? Do I drop a whole folder into the plugin directory? Is there anywhere I have to go in Emby to reference the plugin that I dropped or is it suppose to just pick it up from being in the plugin folder?

We have not taken away anything related to plugins. The server has the plugin catalog just like it always has.

whubbartt 1 Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Hi Luke; Yes, I restarted the server. Maybe I am mistaken but I thought Emby had the ability to add a 3rd party repository in the past and now you cannot. if I am mistaken, then I am sorry and if that is the case then it would be really nice to be able to add a 3rd party or private repository to Emby and not have to rely on what is in the catalog store. Great product though.
ebr 16169 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Hi. What plugin are you trying to install?
