Hello,

I would like to request the ability to change the default trailer link assigned when adding a movie. Often, the selected trailer is in low quality or in another language, which is not ideal. It would be great to have an option to add a custom YouTube link, such as a button or a feature labeled "Change Trailer" or something similar. This would significantly enhance the user experience.

Thank you!

HI, yes we need to get this into the metadata editor. Thanks.

Sounds good, but for regular users, it would be much more practical if editing and changing the default trailer could be done instantly and directly within Emby.

LOL answered in spanish without thinking after seeing the screen cap hahaha.

Well is easier for regular users to having the right trailer downloaded in the first place that's why i try to contribute every time i can, adding missing metadata in my language or helping in the translation of emby interface to give back a little to the community and make others work easier.

I mean having the option to edit the trailer url within the metadata editor is a good idea, but i think that give back is also important since we all benefit from the contribution that many other have done.

Hi,

I would also like to have this possibilety.
Pretty many times the "default/original" trailer is not working or has a bad quality. "Not allowed in your country" also happens.
My suggestion is to include the trailer url in "Edit Metadata" and also make it possible to have more than one trailer added there.

All the Best

Thanks for all the good job you do 😃

I just created a request of this type and was directed to this thread.

This is a fundamental issue; I don't understand why it's not already implemented. I think the best solution is to add a small icon like the one in the image so we can add any video we want, either via a link or a button to upload it to a custom folder on our server.

Improving trailer quality can also be done by adding an extra parameter to exisiting .nfo files in media directories.  This will turn most recent youtube trailers into high definition.  With a good text editor, you could do 500 media files at a time using search / replace.

Hi, are you aware that you can add your own local trailer files?

Yes, I know, but I think that's a "dirty" option since you have to put the trailers along with the media. Ideally, everything should be located in a separate folder from the server, or even better, nothing should be hosted locally but rather with a YouTube link chosen by the server administrator. We don't even have the option to modify the current one that Emby extracts (I imagine it extracts it from TMDB).

Hi.  Just curious why you think that's ideal?  Why are trailers different from other related content like extras?

Hi, I think the ideal solution would be to be able to add the trailer manually. The automatic option almost always chooses the worst trailer and, what's more, it's often in another language. It would be great to be able to add it manually using a YouTube link or similar, and even have the option of adding a local file.

Just my opinion - but I think this problem can be easily solved.

If you save .nfo files in your library settings, you can see in them that there is one or more lines for trailers.
  <trailer>plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=ZkEjle729tI</trailer>
  <trailer>plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=M7QhCm98eIQ</trailer>
It works the same way as example the ID:s from TMDB/TVDB/IMDB:
  <imdbid>tt1210027</imdbid>
  <tvdbid>356661</tvdbid>
  <tmdbid>507244</tmdbid>

When it comes to ID:s those can already be modified in the EMBY interface:

I believe it would be pretty easy to make a similar options to put Youtube ID numbers for trailers into the interface?
Maybe our clever developers can look into it?

Myself, I sometimes edit the .nfo files when a trailer is "dead", has a strange language, is not relevant or has a very low quality.
Only in very few cases I need to download a file and add it next to the movie file.
(Downloading from Youtube with good quality can be very tricky, even if it is possible).

Here is how it looks in the .nfo file:

Hi, yes this is what I think we should do.

Okay, but you said it would be ideal for the trailer to NOT be alongside the media.  That's what I was asking about...
