My file names have a lot of information: "Yellowstone (2018) - S05E09 - Desire Is All You Need - [ WEBDL-2160p ][ 8-bit h265 ][ EAC3 5.1 ].mkv" But the same naming convention works fine for multi-version movies.
pmac 143 Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 I'd like everything after the episode name to show up in the selection drop-down
Neminem 1518 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Hmm just testing something with your file naming. I think I found a in the beta server when testing you naming. But that's not a talk for this issue. But it look like you naming is good. Yellowstone (2018) - S05E09 - Desire Is All You Need - [ WEBDL-1080p ][ 8-bit h265 ][ EAC3 5.1 ].disc Here it is without the extra "space" on beta.
Neminem 1518 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 To get mine to update I do a library scan.
pmac 143 Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 That's really strange that it's working fine for you, and not me. It seems I have it set up the exact same way, but getting different results...
Luke 42077 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 2 hours ago, pmac said: @Lukecould it be that I have too many dashes "-" in my file name? I've highlighted the dash in question in red. Example: "Yellowstone (2018) - S05E09 - Desire Is All You Need - [ WEBDL-2160p ][ 8-bit h265 ][ EAC3 5.1 ].mkv" Should I rename them something like: "Yellowstone (2018) - S05E09 Desire Is All You Need - [ WEBDL-2160p ][ 8-bit h265 ][ EAC3 5.1 ].mkv" Or would the dash between episode number and episode name be irrelevant? I'd like the media info at the end of the filename to be in the version selection drop-down. If it makes a difference I can simplify them to "1080p" or "2160p", but I don't think that should matter, since it's working fine for movies with my current naming structure. No, the file names don't really matter when it comes to episodes. Detection is based first on the series being merged, then season and episode numbers. 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Agreed this is very strange why it's not working - I no longer use multi-versions on TV Series - but quickly created a share/folder/dummy file to ensure it was working and it appears to be. This is the standard release - not beta. To note (and I believe Luke has confirmed) for TV Series - anything that is different after the '-' is what determines the match and the naming in the drop down. Happy to be corrected on the folder name/file name not needing to be an exact match - as my example below shows. (I have no tvdbID in the file name) @Neminemhas covered it all above, but for 100% confirmation - these are the results of my own tests below :- Edited November 27, 2024 by rbjtech
pmac 143 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 Well, I've gone through process of renaming all of my files and folders so that the naming conventions are all the same, now my library scan has been going all night and is still only showing that it's 54.8% complete, but it's made it past some of the multi-version shows and they're still not merged, so it definitely seems like I've got something strange going on. No idea what to do next, or what logs could possibly be helpful in this situation
Neminem 1518 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Lets see what's up when its all done with the scan. I'm not sure what order it does things. 1
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 The first step is in getting the series to merge, so I would focus on that before the episodes. Have either of them set a custom metadata language in the metadata editor?

pmac 143 Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 7 minutes ago, Luke said: What did you check in there? I just compared the series metadata between both versions of two of the shows that haven't merged. I also just created a "dummy" show that doesn't exist in my library in both the "television" and "television4k" folders as follows: ".../Television/NCIS/Season 1/NCIS - S01E01 - 1080p.mkv" ".../Television4K/NCIS/Season 1/NCIS - S01E01 - 2160p.mkv" The series was identified and found metadata, but wasn't merged together as one series

I'm assuming that's likely a long process. Also, my library scan didn't change anything with metadata providers/etc. disabled (to decrease the amount of time it takes). I've since started a new scan with all of my providers and settings re-enabled, but based on past experience, I don't imagine that will finish for a few days at least, as I believe it's going to re-check all of the images and chapter markers, etc. The library scan just seems to sit at 54.8% in the scheduled tasks section, and the television library just sits at 91% Edited November 27, 2024 by pmac

pmac 143 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) I've finally completed a full library scan after making renaming all of my files/folders to make sure they have the same naming conventions. None of my multi-version series have merged; still showing up as two separate series, yet have their watched statuses in sync with eachother regardless of which version was actually watched. Edited November 28, 2024 by pmac
pmac 143 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Also to note: I currently have two separate library's for tv series ("Television" and "4K Television"). "Television" is associated with both folders, and "4K Television" is only associated with the 4K folder. Would having two separate libraries be messing this up? ie. Should I remove the 4K library, and only have the single Television library that's associated with both version folders?

Deleting my 4k only library bringes it back. I have to do a new scan, on my remaining tv library.

I don't think so - I'm not 100% on what you did, but it sounded like you added the same content to multiple libraries - ie a receipe for db corruption. All @pmacneeds to do is have a single library with multiple folders/shares - but I'm sure you're aware of that .. 1
Luke 42077 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 This isn't corruption, it's just that in this case the merging will not be supported when configure your libraries like that. The series is only added to your server database once, so which set of library options gets used will be arbitrary.
