Hi,

I'm using Emby since half an year. Since 1-2 Months I have problems with playing Music over DLNA.

After a while (4.8.8.0 --> 5 Minutes)(4.8.8.10 --> 20 Minutes) emby is stoping playing music.

see Log form:

2024-11-23 10:16:25.446  --> I started it

2024-11-23 09:56:07.195  --> stopped without reason

Log says: "PlaySession 43273e3a833549d7b08b5b369389fc6f has gone idle while playing" but without reason.

For the context: I start the music over the API from a homeautomation system (Node-Red).

Maybe it is a feature to prevent playing music, without someone heares it.... But I do.  --> Do I have to send a "ceep alive" or something from my homeautomation system? I did not find something in the api-documentation.

(by the way, there are also a lot of  errors in the log from serverside, but seems to be not connected to my problem)

HI, what DLNA software is playing on the device?

Posted

Hi,

it is:
https://github.com/hzeller/gmrender-resurrect

But I don't think it is the DLNA Software. Because If I start it over the Emby-Webinterface or the Emby App it is working for more than 1h (after that I interrupptet the test)

It seems to be only accure when I use the API and that is the reason I think there seems to be an timeout or something.

thank you

OK then I would probably suggest using the browser debugger to monitor requests and compare what you are doing with the API to what the web app is doing. It's that kind of deep dive that is going to be required in order to find the answer.

ok, what do I have to do? Where do I find this debugger? Do you mean the browser on my pc? It is not involved, that is the reason I'm little confused.

Well you said web app, so in that same browser, right click -> Inspect. Then you can use the Network tab.

No,

when I use the web app everything is fine. If I use the API than it is interrupting music after arround 30 min

Exactly, so I would suggest using the browser debugger to monitor requests and compare what you are doing with the API to what the web app is doing

1 hour without problems from web-App. I hope the attached file is the correct one.

If I interprete it correctly, the web-App uses "PlayQueue" and I use "Playing" with the directory-ID. Tomorrow I'll try PlayQueue if it workes bedder.

After a lot of trying

e.g.

the Web-App asks for content of an directory and playes the items.
and my home automation system is playing the directory itselve.  --> change to the same like web app did not help

But I read more logs. and the most errors seems to be because of the dlna renderer. I'll try another (dlna over mpd). But this will take time. I'll write you as I have some more information. If you have another idea what to check, please write.

do you have maybe an recomendation about an headless dlna renderer?

HI, do you mean like a wireless speaker?

yes, as a debian software.

gmrender-resurrect seems to be buggy
upmpdcli has an expired key
rygel does not work (and I don't know why)

Ok,... I testet more and more, and you can close this.

It is not solved but it seems to be something strange behaviour between emby and gmrender-resurrect, only if using api. I would say it is so special case we can ignore it.

I tested with an old sonos-device over dlna and it worked perfectly. I'll buy hardware.

But thank you for your time and your tips. To see the debugmode in the browser helps me a lot. (I'm not a professional programmer, only hobby)
