Where do trailer links come from?

I have a few TV shows and movies where the trailer button does not work due to a broken link, or geo-blocked link,  where does the Emby get the "trailer link" from?  I know most trailers are on youtube, but where does emby get the link to the correct trailer?

I checked TVdb trying to update a trailer link for "Dexter", but tvdb does not have trailer links...

Hi, typically they come from MovieDb.

Truss,

You can find a link on Youtube and add it to Dexter shows .nfo file on your server, below director and above rating lines.
You need to have create .nfo files in your directory turned on inside that Admin menu / Libraries / (Single Library Edit ...) /

Metadata Savers
[X] Choose the file formats to save your metadata to.

Original link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6jJy_FZf3E

Add this line in your .nfo file.
  <trailer>plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=M6jJy_FZf3E</trailer>

It really depends on if They have LOCKED the Series as trailers can be added to Series.

Example from From (2022)

But Luke still has not exposed the trailer field in the metadata editor so it would have to be added manually or another metadata editor to write to metadata (nfo).

Note sure if Dev has added trailers from TVDB either.

For those on the beta server, once you've updated to 4.9.0.51, and gotten the trailer plugin update, with the following days after that you'll start to more trailers and higher quality trailers. It is all youtube now.

Please note, Emby apps are going to require compatibility updates, so i wouldn't switch to beta solely for this just yet. But if you already happen to run the beta, then please leave feedback in the testing area of the community. Thanks.
