geekymovielord 2 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Emby provided guide data is not available in germany, so I am using a third party provider who provides me with the EPG. For most channels this works, however a lot of channels will have the TVG-ID "TS" and the mapping shall be done through TVG-NAME. That wouldn't be an issue, however when I go to the channel in the Emby web app, edit metadata, choose the correct channel from the EPG dropdown and save, it does not use the selected channel. When I click edit metadata again, I can see that it selected the first entry that has the same TVG-ID (TS) but is a different channel. I think the reason for this is that the dropdown uses the TVG-ID as the value: Interestingly enough this does also happen when just importing the M3U file and XML EPG and let it map automatically without editing the Metadata. Same behavior. Yes, the provider of the XML EPG does not provide clean data and that's bad, but I would be very happy if I could still get a working EPG in Germany.
Carlo 4560 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 The issue arises because TVG-ID values must be unique for correct mapping. If multiple channels share identical TVG-IDs, the system might misalign the EPG data. Resolve this by updating the TVG-IDs to ensure each channel has a unique identifier.
geekymovielord 2 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Unfortunately this is something I cannot change. I'd need to fetch that XML and M3U and change all the TVG-IDs and than host that so that emby can fetch the edited files. That's something I am afraid I cannot do

Carlo 4560 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 When several channels are assigned the same TVG-ID, it can result in misalignment of Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data, as the system utilizes TVG-ID values to distinctly identify channels for accurate mapping. To mitigate this issue, it is essential to ensure that each channel possesses a unique TVG-ID.
