robsch 45 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Morning. So I have my file structure setup like this, I use MakeMKV to rip my disc's and I use TinyMediaManager to handle all the renaming and getting all the "art and nfo generation" : File names : Doctor Strange (2016) - UHD Blu-ray.2160p.HDR.TrueHD Atmos.8ch Doctor Strange (2016) - Blu-ray.1080p.3D.DTSHD-MA.8ch So as you can see I have 2 versions of Doctor Strange. A 4k and 3D version. Emby sees them as 2 separate movies, as it should by my organization style. I keep different fanart, and covers, etc., for each of my movies. I use Kodi in my Theater room and I like to put animated cover art for my 3D movies. It just adds a bit of flare. I know I can put them in the same folder, and use the native way Emby can do it, but is there another option out there that might work? Not to play comparisons, but Jellyfin has a way to collapse movies by title. Is there an option like that in Emby that I missed, or a plugin I missed? I am pretty sure I know the answer, but never hurts to ask. Thanks folks.
Solution Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 20, 2024 Solution Posted November 20, 2024 (edited) @robschEmby requires them to be in same folder to have automatic naming grouping to happen otherwise you have to use the Plugin or group them manually via multi-select options. Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I use the sort title of movies to get the grouping I want. I find that perfectly adequate and easy to do. 1

If you keep these in two different paths such as C:\Media\4K-Movies C:\Media\Non-4K-Movies You could add both paths to a movie library. You would still use the Automatic Grouping plugin but would gain a feature. When viewing a users access rights you could grant access to only Non-4K-Movies or two both. This would allow you to not give 4K access to those that don't need it. This is done using Folder Based Access Control https://emby.media/support/articles/Folder-based-Access-Control.html?q=folder Hope that helps, Carlo
