Changing users alters the default home screen

I was going to post this in the live TV section but I can only duplicate the error on Roku.

When I switch to an account that has full access to test M3U or other things then switch back to my default account I use for every day TV watching, my home screen settings are reset to default.  I then have to change the "Sort Channels by" setting back to how I like it and also have to rearrange my Homescreen sections order back to my preferences.

I didn't attach a log file here as I'm not sure which one is helpful for you in this case.

thanks in advance for our help.

Hi.  Home screen settings are per-user so having them change when you switch users is expected.  Can you show us some screen shots to describe what you are seeing?

I read the OP's issue as being that the settings mentioned aren't retained for one user when changing to another and then back.  It's not stated whether there is a full logout each time or just a change of user.

I’ll work on some screen shots to clarify.  All I do is switch users, not logout. Seems the Home Screen is reset back to a default view.

AMike,

Maybe Roku is clearing the cache of the session and losing the Home Screen preferences.  Is there an option to keep the cache active either in Roku or Emby App?  I don't use either, so it's just a guess.

thanks but not familiar with either of those options in the app or Roku.  I believe the Emby server may feed that configuration to the Roku because that is where I configure it.

AMike,

Ideally, your preferences should stick when you login with the exact same hardware (mobile, notebook, tablet, workstation or direct app) to the exact same IP address or local with on the same login.  But, as far as I understand, if you change any one of those, use local vs. Internet IP, different Wifi, different hardware, even a different mobile phone, then it will be like logging in for the first time and you get the default settings.  So, prehaps make sure you test with everything exactly the same and then see if you keep or lose your preferences.

Hope that made sense.  I am scratching my head, just reading it back.  Ha!

Right because each user has their own home screen settings, right?

Here are some screen shots I took from the iOS app.  Before I switched users, I am showing Home Screen layout.  Switching from "User 1" to "User 2" the settings change to User 2 without issue and everything is fine.  When I switch back to User 1 you can see my Home Screen details now have "My Media" in Home Screen section 1 where my default is "None".  I took the screen shots from my iPhone to show these setting are changed on Emby Server and not on the Roku device.  Also, the Guide sort order is reset to default at that time when I normally I sort by "Favorites, Then by Channel Order".  I did forget to screen shot that issue but I can easily reproduce it if you need.

I hope that clarifies my situation.

Thanks all.

If you never enter those setting screens, does the problem occur?

If you align your sections where section 1 is not empty, does the problem occur?

yes it occurs.  I don't check those setting screens each time until I notice the change on the Roku then also see the Guide sort has changed.

I have aligned the guide by shifting everything up one because basically the only change I made was moving "My Media" to the end.  Now I just leave the first one set to "None" and choose "My Media" in the last position.

If I don't change users the configurations are stable and never change on their own.

so here is a wrinkle.  Yesterday the server running my Emby server crashed (motherboard fault).  I pulled my original server out of storage and fired it up.  It is an original MediaBrowser build with appropriate EMBY updates.  For the life of me I now cannot replicate the error.  I was hoping to help test some more but will have to wait until the new year when I build a new media center.

Thanks guys.
