"too many errors" failures when stereo/multi-channel sent to mono.

Something that I noticed recently that you may already be aware of: on a Google TV dongle, if I configure the device to send Bluetooth audio to a mono Bluetooth device, Emby fails all video playback with the "too many errors, giving up" message. It is consistent with Live TV, ripped movies, recorded TV.  Probably everything I tried was Dolby Digital 5.1. I tried both Direct Play and transcoding, but it didn't matter. I was doing this to get at least ok sound from a old computer monitor I was repurposing as a guest room TV. The monitor has horrible sound.

Anyway, I then replaced the mono device (a Nest Mini) with a stereo Bluetooth device, (JBL Charge) and everything worked perfectly. As that was a fix, I didn't poke around further.

Other Android video apps, such as Netflix, Prime Video, successfully play back on the mono speaker.

I tried Auto and Downmix to Stereo in Emby audio settings, disabling all surround sound in the Google TV, and nothing worked for Emby.

The behavior is identical between the Emby for Android and Emby for Android TV apps.

I didn't grab logs because I'm happy to just use the stereo Bluetooth speaker as my own fix (it sounds a lot better), but thought I'd report it on the offhand chance you didn't already know. I'd guess that most Bluetooth speakers are stereo, as are all headphones, so likely not a big issue for the vast majority of users.

I searched for this for just a minute but nothing popped up that seemed similar.

Thanks!

@wmichael3

Have you had a chance to report this as Luke asked?
