Next Up - preferred tv show display

Hi, I have just had to get a new TV as my samsung gave up.

I now have an LG, the problem is with the next up in series.

It tells you that the next up is S2:E12 for example but doesn't give the synopsis for S2:E12 it just shows the general shows synopsis.

There are three settings in the display setup for preferred tv show display but none of them give you the option to see the next episode(s)

If I set it to all, then it shows Season 1...Season n which would be ok, but when I scroll down to to see it it jumps to some season futher across the list (presumably picking up where the cursor is on the screen. Then If you re-select the current season it starts at 1 not the current episode.

This makes it unusable.

If I set it to use all episodes single season, and I scroll down it just goes to the season 1 cover again making it unusable.

The third option always show season folders does exactly the same as the second option again unusable.

It was so nice before the updates, You went in, it showed the show synopsis along with the play next up button (which I never used). I just pressed the down button on the remote and it showed the next up with the thumnail and the episeds that followed it with the thimbnails. Press return and you see the synopsis and thumnail ready to play it.

I like to be able to read the episodes synopsis as a minimum but cannot see anyway I can get to it without remember what season and episode number is next.

It seems like it has just been made so much harder to use, which is why on my old samsung I reverted to an old version.

There must be a way to get this to work, I am not sure if it is a problem with the LG interface or just Emby?

The nearest option is option 1 but as I say if I scroll down to look at the episodes it just goes to a different episode or even a different season.

The Version is LG 1.0.44

I hope something can be done to fix this.

hi, where are you referring to exactly?

Hi Luke,

Go into TV shows, Select the series you want to watch.

It shows you the number of the next one to watch e.g. S3:E10 and it shows the series synopsis but not what episode 10 is (in this example).

Below you can see that Season 3 is highlighted (you can just see the line of Season 1 Season 2.... Season 10 Sea).

So, you press the down button on the remote and Season 3 is highlighted still, you then press down again it jumps into a completely different series number ( in my example it jumped to seaon 7 episode 5! not the highlighted one).

You then have to Press the up button to go to the series line (which in this example is season 7) and move across to the correct series then down again but now it is on the wrong episode so you have to remember the episode you need and then scroll across forward or back to get to it and then finally select it.

Hope my description is understandable?

Hi.  You are selecting a series so that is why you are seeing the series synopsis.  if, instead, you had selected that episode, then you would see that.  Do you have Continue Watching or the legacy Next Up on your home screen?  That gives you a direct path to the next up episode for the series you are watching.

The navigation issues you describe definitely need looking into...

Hi, You have to go into the series first.

But it shows you the next season/episode to watch with the title but not the description for it.

When I try to select the episode, that's when it goes wonky and puts me into the wrong season and episode.

No there is no watching or next up just Play. Is there a setting to show these?

You can put a "Continue Watching" row on your home screen which will show you the next up episodes in the series you have watched recently.  Click your user icon and select "Home Screen".

That needs to be looked into.

Thanks but I don't think that would work for me as I have 20-30 series on the go. I use collections titled 1-Monday to 7-Sunday and 8-evenings as well as one for films to 9-re-watch. I copy the series i want into the collection folders and use them like a tv schedule.

Will someone be looking into the problem?

Someone will look into the navigation issue but the synopsis is correct for the screen you are on.

That's great, thanks.

Can the fix for LG (once it's done) be downloaded and installed like on Samsung or does it have to wait until LG says it's ok?

Hi, have you retested the navigation issue with Emby for LG 1.0.45?

Just checked on tv but it's not showing up.

OK 1.0.45 has been released last week, so once the update is available for you, I would suggest retrying with that.

Hi, how is it different?

Using the cursor. it picks the wrong season and the wrong episode (even though the right season is highlighted).

You have to go into the wrong season then go up and across to the right season then go across to the next unwatched episode.

It's a lot of work to get to the next episode rather than just going into the the right season and episode in the first place.

Hi @Luke, any news on an updated app?

It is really annoying and time consuming to use as-is.

Hi @Luke just installed LG TV's 1.0.47 but the problem is still there.

I still have to go to next/previous season and then back to current season and then scroll to the episode (which is a real pain).

Can it be fixed so that when I move down onto the highlighted season it actually goes into that season and preferably the correct episode?

Are you not waiting for the list to scroll as you change seasons? Could that be your issue?

Hi,

The correct season is selected/highlighted when I go into the series and it shows the season and episode that is next to play, I then press the down button the cursor goes on to the correct selected season but when I press down again to go to the episode it jumps to another season usually season 1!

Then I have to go up and across to the seasson again and then down (which it stays on the correct season the second time) which usually puts it onto episode 1.

I then have to scroll all the way across to the correct episode.

OK we'll take a look at it. Thanks.
