WallyWalters 1 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Hey everyone, I have a question about NGINX and Emby when they are both installed on the same server WITHOUT using docker. I have a single server running Ubuntu Server. I have NGINX, Emby Server and the aarr's apps all installed locally on it. I have it all working using the guides for configuring NGINX but I am not sure how it is working... I am confused how NGINX and Emby with Remote Configuration can both be listening and operating on port 443? Since I don't have docker, the apps are all local installs. I was thinking that because Emby was configured to Allow Remote Connections and on remote port 443 it was bypassing NGINX. I turned off Emby Remote Connection and had it working with only NGINX on port 443, but I found this stopped Emby Connect from registering the server externally. The NGINX Emby guides are amazing but I wasn't sure what the Emby Server configuration should be. I couldn't see this side of it mentioned in the guide. Should "Allow remote connections to this emby server" be enabled? Is there any guides to what Emby network setting should be when using NGINX reverse proxy? Thanks everyone!

I think in general most can be left at default. If you have SSL setup with your reverse proxy, then you can set the SSL option in Emby to handled by reverse proxy.

Does Emby Server send them based on these network configurations in Emby or can they be manually configured?

All of that is generally determined automatically but can be overridden in server network settings.
