nicaemby 1 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hello I've lost access to my admin user account, cannot remember password. My NAS is hosted with my parents whilst I'm abroad. I cannot get them to access the localhost url and enter the pin code. What are my options for admin password reset? I have DSM admin log in and also SSH access remotely via synology.me. Is there a way to reset password via SSH? Or worst case can how do I reset emby entirely and start again with a new admin and user content. Can I do that reset remotely and perform a new setup/install? Or do I need localhost access? Thanks
Neminem 1518 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Do you parents have a pc ? Ask them to install Teamviewer QS Windows if windows. Install Teamviewer full client on your own pc. Connect to there QS session and work remote on there pc, and connect to your NAS. Edited November 15, 2024 by Neminem

nicaemby 1 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Managed to do it remotely..... here's how just in case anyone is in my position......... Luckily I have the NAS as a DMZ device on my parents network so don't have to setup any ports on router, however... Enable VPN server and setup the server via this guide https://www.wundertech.net/synology-nas-openvpn-server-setup-configuration/ Install OpenVPN client and connect to NAS via VPN profile. Run admin password reset process as per https://emby.media/support/articles/Admin-Password-Reset.html access to localhost via OpenVPN, password reset, back in action 1
