pan26 6 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hello. After adding an album for a certain CD, I noticed that the album art was incorrect, so I set the correct image in the mp3 album art tag. First, I tried "Scan Library Files," but the album art did not update. Next, I tried "Refresh Metadata" (Replace existing images), but the album art did not update. Then, I deleted the mp3 once and performed "Scan Library Files." I copied the mp3 again and performed "Scan Library Files," but the album art did not update. As a result, the album art from the first "Scan Library Files" execution is being retained. Currently, the only option I can find is to change the album art for the album and the album art for each song in Emby (which I don't want to do since it's all albums of a single artist). Is there any way to reflect the mp3 album art on the Emby side? Emby Version 4.8.10.0. Thank you.
user24 315 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hi. If you try to update an Album from the Album tab within Emby (or any Album view/page), it may not work with the current version of Emby. You may need to either scan your whole library or the relevant folder to get the update to work. I use this method for updating embedded metadata and other music info (including album cover art). It works 99% of the time and is fast to do: Outside of Emby, make the required changes in Mp3tag (or similar program). Using Emby, navigate to Music Library > Folder tab > Parent folder Three dot menu > Scan Library Files This way you don't have to wait to scan you whole library. Updating or adding anything to the music library usually works by rescanning the parent folder one level up from what you have added or changed, Cheers!

Do I have to change it manually after all?
user24 315 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Ok, I've been trying a few things... If you have any Album Image Fetchers enabled when you first set up your music library, then Emby may have imported album images that you deem as incorrect. Even if you then try to import your preferred embedded images Emby may still not accept them, due to the Album Image Fetchers enabling. If you disable all of these, then hopefully that will allow you to import your own embedded Album images in place of the others. Go into your Emby settings and select the relevant library and scroll down, you should see this: Turn all of these off and then go back and try the steps I mentioned previously. You might also want to review all of the other downloaders and fetchers that may be enabled by default. sometimes they are useful and sometimes they are not! After your turn off the Album Image Fetchers you could also try this: If any of this doesn't work perhaps there is something else causing an issue? There are a lot of tricky things with Emby music with embedded metadata versus fetching data from external sources such as MusicBrainz. P. S. Also make sure that any folder.jpg image file that you have in you album folder matches the embedded images in your song files. Edited November 15, 2024 by user24 Added P.S. Section

Now it's just the album's album art left, so I think I'll change it manually. Thank you.
pan26 6 Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 I thought it was okay since it worked with one album, but after trying with two albums following the reply, the album art didn't change. It's disappointing despite all the research done. Is there anything else that can be done?
user24 315 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Hmmm, I'm just guessing as to what the exact cause could be with you set up. Are you able to provide a specific example of a problem album and further details of how you have set up your musc library. This may help reproduce the problem. E.g. Example album Are you using Mp3tag (or another program) first. I'm not exactly sure from what you are saying. Screenshots of the Mp3tag metadata Screenshots of Emby metadata Overall library folder structure Screenshot of your files in a problem album folder The settings you have enabled/disabled for your music library in Emby Do you have any MusicBrainz IDs in your embedded metadata or Emby Anything else you can think of? There may be a simple answer, but it may be hard for me (or others) to figure it out without knowing more details of the problem. Edited November 15, 2024 by user24

user24 315 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Hello again, thank you, This helps a bit more to understand what you have set up (although the Japanese is a bit difficult for me ). I've been experimenting a bit more and can potentially see two possible problems. First If your Mp3tag embedded album art is correct, but you have an incorrect folder.jpg (or other image file in your album folder, then Emby may not update from doing a library scan to import the correct album art. You provided a screenshot of your Songs in Emby, but what do have in your file system library folder outside of Emby (view via e.g. Windows Explorer or Mac equivalent or Synology equivalent). It should show something like this: If you update Mp3tag with a new image you may need to update the folder.jpg file as well? If the Mp3tag image and the folder image file are the same then Emby should update correctly for an Album using the parent folder method mentioned above. Your overall folder structure e.g. Artist|Album|Song, but what do you have selected here: Second Even if this works for the Album, but the Song images are still incorrect, then the Emby database may be caching old song images for the individual Songs. If you are sure you have updated Mp3tag correctly and imported the new images, then try going into the individual songs in Emby and just deleting the old incorrect images. Emby should then automatically revert to the new images. (Though, I did see that you don't have caching enabled.) That's all that I have found out so far. Perhaps it helps??? If not, an Emby technical person may need to assist... Edited November 15, 2024 by user24
pan26 6 Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 This is a folder of entities. There are no files other than mp3. What do you have selected here: The second "Artist/Album". I deleted the album art in Emby, but it doesn't seem to disappear. Thank you for staying with me until now.

Perhaps try putting the correct folder.jpg image file in the folder with the songs. There is a command in Mp3tag "Extract Cover" that makes it easy. Just 'right-click' on the image. Then Emby library folder rescan, etc. and see if that helps? I have no more time now, but will check again tomorrow... Edited November 15, 2024 by user24

I tried version 4.9.0.31 beta, and while there are no issues with the video, an error occurs when updating the metadata for music, preventing me from proceeding. user24 315 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hi, I'm sorry that you are still having problems and I could not help you easily fix it. It should be possible to update the album and song artwork in Mp3tag and then have it imported into Emby, so there may be some other setting and/or method that is causing problems that you need to change? Perhaps Emby technical support (or someone else) will be able to look at your information and log in more detail and solve it for you. Best wishes!
pan26 6 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 I appreciate all the advice you've given me. Thank you. 1

pan26 6 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 I plan to try it again when the new beta version is released.
pan26 6 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 It seems that when you delete the album art of a track and execute "Replace existing images," the incorrect album art that was first loaded gets set. Could it be that the album art loaded first is being cached? Even if I manually change the album art, delete the album itself once, "Scan Library File," and then restore it, the incorrect album art that was first loaded still appears, leaving me with no options. What should I do?
Solution pan26 6 Posted November 17, 2024 Author Solution Posted November 17, 2024 After various trials and errors, I gave up on displaying on Emby, changed all the album art for one artist using mp3tag, and when I executed "Scan Library Files" and "Replace existing images," the album art tags were applied to all albums. Why was it that changing only one album didn't work? Well, since the correct album art is now displayed correctly on Emby, I'll consider it a success. Thank you, everyone. 1
