zaHrecsohbiw 14 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I did not see this request when I searched the Feature Requests forum: I know that this might seem unnecessary, but I suspect that there are lots of people who use .strm files who might also have a local copy of some media (for instance., .strm files that point to episodes of The Simpsons, but hey, The Simpsons is my favorite show of all time, so I have local copies that are much higher quality than what the .strm file points to.) So I am requesting that a user-selectable option to hide duplicate media, perhaps with one or more required sub-options to specify how to prioritize which media gets shown (for instance, to prefer local media over media sourced from a .strm file), be added in the settings of emby server. I am asking for this feature so that search results are simplified and so that the continue watching feed does not show multiple items for the same media.
Luke 42077 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 HI, I think rather than hide, it would be better to merge them so that the desired version can be selected when playing, right?

Ah yes, that would work just fine. I didn’t think of that. That would be consistent with existing behavior for duplicate media files in the same library. I rewrote my original post half-way through my original draft, and it’s only obvious now that I left out an important detail: it would be important that this work across libraries. I suppose that may already be obvious considering that they aren’t already showing up as merged media items, and I’m bothering to ask in the first place. Is that compatible with how you manage media items? Edited November 17, 2024 by zaHrecsohbiw
