MBC - Unused/Empty Genres Appearing

An issue I have discovered is that using index by Genre will show genres for items that do not exist in library. Further investigation revealed that the genres appearing were for "Missing/Un-aired" metadata which is inserted into the library.db located in MediaBrowser-Server\data. Unchecking "Show Missing Items/Show Un-aired items" will hide the items but the genres persist. This issue does not appear in web client, windows phone app, android app or MBT.

 

The only solution I was able to find was shutting down the server, deleting the library.db file, restarting the server and disabling "Download artwork and metadata from the internet" but this prevents other features from working correctly so I rather not have to resort to this.

None of the other clients allow you to index folders so there is no way they could exhibit this behavior.

 

I'll have to see if there is a parameter I can provide on my end to prevent this.  Thanks for the investigation.

I believe this will need to be addressed on the server.  Luke is looking into it.
