ripper 5 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I (and others) had been battling an issue with video stuttering that I thought was due to the XBMB3C addon itself. After devs reviewing logs and my own personal testing, I discovered that the culprit is the Titan helper service. Please reference this thread for full details: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/13031-xbmb3c-stuttering/ I discovered that once the skin itself is installed, the helper service runs on startup regardless of if Titan is the active skin, enabled/disabled, or installed at all. So switching skins alone would not improve the situation. It's not until I removed or disabled the helper service separately from the skin that I got fluid video playback. While I did experience the issue on a FireTV and Atom dual core nettop, the issue is not due to underpowered hardware, as I experienced the same results on both a Win7 (AMD Phenom II X4 955, GTX460, 4GB, SSD) and Win8.1 (AMD Phenom II X4 955, GTX660ti, 8GB, SSD) system... though the stutter was significantly less pronounced than the lower end hardware, it was still there. Since switching skins AND removing the helper service from all of my devices, the stutter has been completely eliminated. There are multiple logs linked in the other thread for reference.
marcelveldt 736 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Thank you for discovering this. Can you please tell me what version of the helper service you're running ?
ripper 5 Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 I only have it still installed on my gaming rig, which I was simply using as an additional test machine. It has v1.2.5 on it. I couldn't say for sure which version was installed on my various other devices, but all of them I had been using the beta repository. I had been experiencing the issue for around a month, but that is also around the time that I started using Titan.

In fact, the beta repository had the wrong version of the helper service, as I don't use that repo. The Titan skin is available on the Official XBMC repo (including the helper service) for stable versions. On the normal XBMB3C repo is the beta version of the Titan skin... I still have to switch that (it's something from the past actually).... For now I removed the skin and helper service completely from the beta XBMB3c repo. Could you maybe try to use the latest beta version of the skin and the helper service ? In latest version I did a lot of rework and optimizations, the 1.2.5 version is bad as it doesn't work with the latest XBMB3C changes. You have to install the skin from the normal XBMB3C repo. The latest version of the skin is 2.1.22 for the Gotham version and 3.1.22 for the Helix version. Latest version of the helperservice is 1.2.8 Thanks for your patience and discovering this, I was truly not aware of the problem! Regards, Marcel Edited November 18, 2014 by marcelveldt

New version of the helper service is available on the repo: version 1.3.0 This should fix the stuttering issues.
