Jarab 1 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Hello, I am a new Emby-Premiere-User and try to get familiar with this system. I installed Emby on my Synology-DS220+ and transfered all music and video files. I do have access to the Emby server from my mac, iphones and iPad. So far so good. Now I want to download a music folder to an USB-stick to use it in my car. I followed the instructions and installed first "Folder Sync". After that I created a folder, gave it a name and a path. And here is the problem. What is the correct syntax for the path either to my Mac or the Synology-server? I tried several ways, but all failed. Could somebody help, please? Funny is, that obviously a download happens, but not to the given paths. Under "Downloads" the downloaded files appear as "downloaded", but I have no idea where these downloads a located.
Carlo 4560 Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Hi, You would not want to use folder sync for this purpose. The typical way to do this using Emby is the download or download to features in the Emby clients. This starts a background task that copies data for you. However, since you're the admin and have easy access to the media, the easiest method would be connecting the USB drive to the NAS then copy your media with File Station or plugging the USB drive into your Mac and copying the media over the network. This explains the downloads options https://emby.media/support/articles/Sync.html?q=download This is about Folder Sync https://emby.media/support/articles/Folder-Sync.html?q=folder Hope that helps, Catlo
Jarab 1 Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 Hi Carlo, Thanks for the reply and your recommendations. I read all download options, which led me finally to Folder Sync, but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. I established playlists (see attachment screenshot1). For single files there is no problem, I can "download" or "download to...". However, when I try to download a playlist-folder, the only way is "download to ...". The direct download to my Mac does not exist. Look at screenshot2. I downloaded to a Folder-Sync (for testing only). Where are these downloaded files stored? I could not find them neither on my Mac nor in Synology File Station. Best regards, Jarab
Carlo 4560 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 As mentioned above Folder Sync is likely the wrong tool for the job. It could be twisted into working I suppose, if you setup the device to share its storage space and set proper permissions for use over the local network. In a nutshell it would have to be available to Emby server to write to. I don't happen to have any Apple products so I can't answer where they might have been downloaded to. Let's see if @Lukeor @ebrmight be able to comment on this. Carlo
Jarab 1 Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 Hi Carlo, I got it! As I explained, my Emby-Server is installed on my Synology-NAS. The access with iPhone-Clients runs pretty good. Now I installed an Emby-Client on my Mac, which also works very good with the Emby-Server on my NAS. Now I can do playlist-downloads to my Mac and to the USB-Stick. Thanks for your support Best regards, Jarab£ 1
