Schwongs 2 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Hey everyone, A few days ago Emby on my Samsung TV started playing all movies with the commentary audio tracks instead of the normal default track. No matter which track is selected the commentary track always plays, the exception is the AC3 stereo tracks. Has anyone else run into this on the Samsung Emby app from the app store? For what it's worth, playing the same movie via web browser works just fine, movies also play normal through the Android app on my phone and on my Firestick. Just raising awareness, I hadn't seen anyone post about it yet. I'm running Emby Server 4.7.xx on Linux, I believe the Samsung TV App is version 1.8. Let me know if more info is needed, thank you!

It wasn't an update that changed something, I had turned off transcoding to force direct play not realizing that the main audio track was DTS which is not supported by my TV (Samsung QN75Q8DTAFXZA from 2020). The video comes through just fine, but the Samsung Emby app plays the AC3 Stereo tracks (commentary/accessibility) instead of just being silent. Switching between the tracks does nothing, same commentary track plays.Turning transcoding back on makes everything function as normal again. For now my fix will just be to run everything through my Firestick to support direct play. Is there anything in the works for the Samsung Tizen Emby app to support transcoded audio with direct play video if that's even a possibility? What makes you think that this isn’t happening already with transcoding enabled? What does stats for nerds show during playback?
Schwongs 2 Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 If I enable transcoding for audio only, and don't enable video and container changes then I get a playback error and nothing works. Same if I enable audio and container but no video transcoding, errors out and won't play. The only way it works is with all transcoding options enabled. I'll reenable transcoding and run it again to get you the stats for nerds entry while transcoding, and again with direct play if that helps. Thanks!

Schwongs 2 Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 Hey Luke, I reran the movie and pulled up Stats for Nerds, the video is direct playing and the audio is transcoding. The system appears to be functioning as intended, I think my issue was entirely self-inflicted... I attached a screenshot of the stats for nerds, if you would still like a copy of ffmpeg and remux logs I can pull them when I get home but I don't want to waste anymore of your time on what appears to be user error lol.
