djerniehoule 23 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Hey guys, I am creating playlists of my music 70's, 80's, Oldies, etc - some are titled like Alternative Rock, Classic Country, etc. those are complete albums - I am wondering if something can be added to move those to a folder, or something else so they are not displayed in the playlist area. I added some to "collections" but the playlist is still displayed.
djerniehoule 23 Posted November 7, 2024 Author Posted November 7, 2024 See everything that says “radio” I would like those visible, but others to be put in a folder like “collections” but not displayed in the main window
user24 313 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) Hi, yes, I also found if you just add a Playlist directly to a Collection you will still be left with the original Playlist in the Playlist Section and a whole Playlist (rather than individual Albums or Songs) in the Collection. If you don't have 1000s of created Playlists with 1000s of Albums, then it could be a good idea to keep your Radio Playlists as is, delete the others, and make new Album Collections for your other groupings? I don't know of any easy way within Emby to convert a Playlist to a Collection, but there could be a technical solution with scripting that could do it??? (Others may know?) However, here is something you could easily try that may be a possible workable solution...? You could investigate the Playlist Filters within Emby. (e.g.): If you don't use the Overview section of your Playlists, then add an Overview to your Radio Playlists (it can be anything). Then Playlists>Filter>Overview>Any will show all of your Playlists in the main window. Then Playlists>Filter>Overview>Yes will show only your Radio Playlists in the main window. Then Playlists>Filter>Overview>No will show only your Album Playlists in the main window. Note: All of your Playlists will still show in the LHS panel, irrespective of the Filter setting. If this suggestion is useful, you could also try experimenting with the other Filter settings (e.g. Genre). This leads into potentially creating Genres outside of Emby (e.g. in Mp3tag) and importing into Emby. You can then use Genres (as opposed to Collections) for organising. You can, of course, also experiment with Genres within Emby only. But Genres is another whole subject... Anyway, perhaps have a look at the Filters and see if it helps? Cheers!
