Hi, this is where Emby Server's nfo support comes from.

BUT... do I need it.

I assume that, if Emby required it, it would be built into the program.

Do I need NFO files?  They seem to contain a backup of the metadata and, for some reason, seem to get updated randomly.  That triggers an update.  That leads to a lock up. Etc...

Would need examples with logs

By the way the realtime monitor for libraries would have extra logging like this if you enable debug logging

2024-11-24 17:33:06.649 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet\Season 1\The Blue Planet s01e04.mkv
2024-11-24 17:33:06.652 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet\Season 1
2024-11-24 17:33:06.655 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet\Specials
2024-11-24 17:33:06.655 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet\Specials
2024-11-24 17:33:06.660 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet
2024-11-24 17:33:06.660 Debug LibraryMonitor: Change detected to H:\TestMedia\TV-SeasonPosters3\The Blue Planet\Specials\The Blue Planet s00e01 Making Waves.mkv

So that would have helped understanding the cause of the refreshes

Would also need then looking into the directories and see what files got added / changed

Anyway - you now have real time monitoring disabled - so we can keep it that way and see if you still have issues

Here is a debug log for the last few hours.

It didn't freeze up in that time but, if this can help, I'm all for it.

Log show two episode changes and we do not have the thousands of refreshes like before

You have Bob's Burgers Season 15 Episode 7 picked up as a change at 04:13 on 25 Nov

and

Whitstable Pearl Season 3 Episode 6 picked up as a change at 04:55

We have logged that a refresh would be needed for season 15 for the first and season 3 for the second.

We did log the need to refresh for each twice - possibly once for the mkv and once for the nfo

All look reasonble and does not show the issue of thousands of refreshes you had before

The media was within "/data/media/tv/current/"
